  • Lamb of God - Hourglass

They have a new retrospective set out that has some unreleased material. The cool thing is the "ultimate" version of the set comes with a Jackson D2 Dominion.

I saw that a few days ago, thought it was pretty funny, too. I love my original Dominion, don't know what I'd do with a D2.
I don't really care about "greatest hits" type CDs, but I guess I'll get the three-disc version just to get the 18 extra rare/unreleased tracks.

Pass. I tried getting into LoG (had New American Gospel and the one before the latest - before Wrath?) - couldn't get into it.

I do kinda like the Dominion - but not in that riverbed, trans black color. I'd like a natural or a tobacco burst. Also, ditch the coil splits and give me some decent pickups instead of '59's.

Wrath is the latest one... their best IMO. Sacrament was right before that; pretty decent album, too.

Yeah - that's the one - Sacrament. I thought it would be better than New American Gospel.

I bought the deluxe edition of Wrath for the "unmixed" tracks and mixed up a vocal free version of the album for a friend that loves metal but can't take Blythe's vocals. He listens to it all the time.

nice work, Hellbat! I have to admit I was never into that style of vocal. The first time I heard the band, the riffage just blew me away....and then vox started. I couldn't deny the music though. At first I would kind of block out Blythe just because I really wanted to listen to the music. Eventually I came to like the vocals too, just by virtue of hearing it so much.

I really like Sacrament. I remember the shit fight on the forums when it came out because they dared to try mix a few different elements in. Wrath actually felt like a backward step to me. Still very good though

I'm in the same boat really. I couldn't stand Blythe's vocals at first, it actually kept me away from buying their stuff. But, the riffing and even more so the drumming really stood out for me and I picked up the Wrath specifically for making the vocal free mix for my own use. My laziness beat it out however and I just listened to the regular CD. After I made the vocal free mix the songs didn't seem right without the vocals. Thats when I picked up Ashes and Sacrament. A buddy also gave me a documentary type thing on the making of Sacrament and that made me appreciate them that much more because they all seem like good dudes, even though Blythe's personality would probably make me crazy if I met him in person.

My copy of the 3-disc set arrived today!!

GT...you'd be amazed at how the '59s sound in the Dominion. They sound killer through my Fandango.

I've been a big LoG fan for years, but "getting to know them" through their dvds has made me more of a fan. They all seem like really cool, down to earth guys. Randy has his issues, but he always seems to be trying to overcome them. His vocals have been getting increasingly better each album. Mark, Willeh and JC have a great groove together and Chris is one of the best in the world on drums.

I tried one out. Like the feel overall, kinda even liked the shape, but the 59's sounded like mush to me - too much fight in them.
