There are lots of great bands that still rock it even better than they did. RATT for one kicks major ass. I'd love to see Cinderella back in action too! Motley sucked last tour but thats only because Mick is just too sick to play like he used to. Its sad. HAS to suck for him.

All that being said, Steel Panther were the best live act I've seen in YEARS (I got to play two songs with them at House of Blues Vegas). They are tighter than a banjo string.... and great guys.

Eddie flat out said that he doesn't want to put out music that will be downloaded for free anyway. But I heard they are in the studio now???

As an hobby historian of all things related to rhythm I can say that polka beat is the predecessor of blast beat, pretty much the same thing only little differences in tempo and feel. Both are danceable for white folks who got no groove. Polka rhythm would have dominated the western world for a long time, luckily there were a group of cannabis smoking black dudes in New Orleans who started to swing the notes which made the devil go into the women and moisten them in the lower body parts, masculine society saw that as a good thing and embraced the new cookin' rhythms. Polka beat remained for Country and Schlager folks until angry hardcore punk drummers caused it to be popular for wider audiences.

What are you on about?! Bon DIED of it FFS! Malcolm had to sit out a tour through alcoholism! Phil Rudd left the band as a result of drug problems.

Dissection: case in point. it probably would have been better if they just stuck with the same set-list they had in 1997 instead of recording a third album.

I disagree, although i wasn't fond of it when it came out, "Reinkaos" is a grower and is easily their best and most conceptually potent work. KILLER album.
It's all about the blues-rock chatter.

Well, if it is good, it is good. Slash's album is a good example. You can follow the same path or try different things. People will embrace it if they like it. It is easy as that. If a veteran band doesn't make a new album, that must be because they haven't created anything great.

I disagree as well, Reinkaos was good. It's not like they were super heavy on the first two albums then turned gay. All three albums are about the same "heaviness" wise, the first two are just a bit more intricate (and better). Reinkaos was a good album though, I like it, and the "Rebirth of Dissection" live album is great.

Im actually glad that some of my favorite all time bands, like Living Colour and Def Leppard, are still putting out new music that I actually like. While I love their older material it's nice to hear new stuff too.

And I do applaud bands that put out new music and tour with it. Although it yet be hard for them to find a balance between new and "classic" material.

Oh and the "new" AC/DC album was good. It's nice to know that there are still constants that you can always rely on.

I never dug Aerosmith so I can't and won't defend them.

I'm very sad to see that EVH appears to have nothing left in the tank. I guess he falls under the category of the artist that rose so high so fast that he might feel he has nowhere left to go. I mean how do you follow up 20 years of being called the worlds greatest guitarist?

On the way out of the venue when I saw Maiden last month, some dude in his forties was bitching to his mate, "why do they have to include so much shit?" They had the audacity to include tunes off the last few albums, which I guess was disappointing to anyone who imagined they were going to get Somewhere Back In Time mk.ii. In a 16 song setlist, half of the songs were "classics" (including the last 6 songs of the night). I think that's pretty good for a band that has continued to put out albums every couple of years. Surely the band is entitled to play some more recent songs out, considering they are conceding to the old school fans by finishing the night with The Evil That Men Do, Fear of the Dark, Iron Maiden, Number of the Beast, Hallowed & Running Free?
