  • Finally found Billy White (ex Don Dokken)

Probably one the best guitarists on the planet and totally outshone Norum on UFTA. (He did 90% of all the solos).

This will not musically please most of you here but for a "open minded guitarist" this is absolute genius

Billy White aka "Blanco" is an international touring and recording artist, producer and arranger, film scorer, multi-instrumentalist. With over 20 yrs. studying and practicing meditation, yoga, and sound healing, he is now working on a series of recordings that utilize various instruments, and voice to increase relaxation and expand awareness. Cool. The drum production on the first track is awesome. So clean.

*** Edit : Liked it enough that it has now become my first ever itunes purchase.

I'll check this out later. I hope it's better than his Billy White Trio album from the mid-90's...it was horrible, especially considering how great he was on Up From the Ashes.

I'll have to give this a listen. He was awesome on Don Dokken's solo album. Like Rupe, I was disappointed with his Billy White Trio.

I thought the Billy White Trio stuff was great. Definitely different, but it really grew on me... I haven't been able to find those CDs in some time though.

Will check this out too. Thanks for the pointer!

Wow, very nice stuff. Reminds me a bit of some of the stuff that Marc Rizzo does on his solo albums (the flamenco influence). Personally I always like seeing guys play stuff that's a bit different than what they're best known for. I mean, what's the point of a solo album or side project band if it sounds exactly the same as your other music?

He's awesome. Surprised no one has mentioned Watchtower yet. It may not be as well-known, but probably the most "important" stuff he did because of how many bands they influenced.
