Thanks ulijdavid. Another excellent, well thought out review. Whether the comments are positive, negative, or a mixture, I appreciate that you took the time to listen and really think about how you felt about the songs. Awesome. Like I said before, I read every word carefully and think about it.

First of all, thanks for the kind words. It definitely sounds like you enjoy it, which is a great feeling for me. I totally understand what you're saying about it being "retro" or a throwback to the 80s. And you are exactly right!

I guess you guys should know that I didn't think about printing up and selling this CD until I already had about 7 of the songs recorded. I was really happy with what I was getting recorded and thought I would share it with the public. So everything was pretty much written and recorded to what I thought sounded cool. Getting a record deal was not a consideration at all, but of course I'd be thrilled if that does happen. Anyway, the fact that you guys are listening and liking what you hear is satisfaction enough for me. THANKS!!!

The overall playing is very reminiscent of many of the Shrapnel players from the day. For me this is the good and bad part. The good part is I find your sense of melody to be excellent. I admired Tony Macalpine's abilities, but found him lacking in creating many different melodic themes within each song. I find your songs to be very melodic and constantly switching themes.
Points I have to agree with.

First, I am a huge Lynch fan and I can definitely hear it in your playing...but...as UJD pointed out, what you've done with that style is make the songs a bit more happy. I always liked George because his tone and style is dark and "scary." Your tone is very different and I think that takes it to another level of feeling. Perhaps we should call you "Mr. Nicey."

Second, I too think this album is on par with the quality of Shrapnel and other virtuoso releases, but what sets this apart from MANY of them is your sense of melody. Some of those guys can shred, but there is simply no soul. You definitely have that.

All points made so far are reflective to how I took the CD.
Very small distractions and to me I loved all the songs.Very well written and performed.
Desert Sponge and Tempted by Fire are great songs lots of melody and the guitar tones are excellent as well as the playing.
Very 80's influenced which is a good thing for me.John Norum and Lynch I hear in there and Iron Maiden as well.
Breaking Point,October Night and Tear it up are my faves just awesome IMO.
Breaking Point is my fave of the whole CD it encompasses all the great things about 80's metal.
Richard thanks so much for the CD I really love your style and structure.
Its really a great CD and I rate it up there with Craig Chaquico's releases.
        Fine work indeed.

Straycat, another great review. Thanks for your kind words. I really can't stress how much it means to me. It's one thing to have personal friends tell me that the CD is cool, but to have a group of guitarists that I respect give me such great compliments is very nice. You guys rock! And another Iron Maiden reference. I'm so surprised by that. I never would have expected it. Very cool.

Just a heads up, I *did* get my copy...but my HDD failed on Saturday while I was in the middle of listening and typing out my thoughts. I've got a replacement drive en route, so hopefully I'll have my system back up by the end of the week. Here's hoping my whole HDD didn't crap itself, I'm hoping it's just localized to the sectors the OS was on, though I doubt I'm that lucky.

Hey Sausage, sorry to hear about your computer troubles. That's a major bummer. No hurry on the review. I hope Ron isn't right about my riffs doing the damage!

Speaking of sausage I was bummed out to hear Jimmy Dean passed.

BTW Richard I took the CD with me to work ( big truck) today and while I was at a local hang out eating lunch I had it playing pretty loud and a few locals said wow that music is great who is that?
I told them your name and said check him out on you tube.

CD arrived yesterday Richard and I love it. Listened through once last night and had it on in the car going to work this morning. Straycat's comments sum it up really well and I also detect some Skid Row touches in there too.

Skid Row... really? Just like Iron Maiden, I know a lot of their songs, but don't own any of their albums. Which song(s) from Breaking Point made you think of Skid Row?
