People often don't give Yngwie much credit, they look at the speed and say "There is no emotion in his playing, it's just fast." I don't understand why they can't see the dynamics of his playing. The guy's vibrato and use of volume swells is ninja level.
The current sig is using HS-3 bridge and YJM middle and neck. I believe it used to be HS-3 bridge and HS-2 middle and neck.
I think he plays with mass feeling the ripping speed is just his style - a lot of the other incredible guys from his era that i like, vinnie moore macalpine ect where they are sick players are quite sterile in feel or emotion compared to him.
Back when everyone was raving about paul gilbert when he came out, i thought he was kinda shit - i mean his tech was awesome i was jealous of him cause he was only like a year older than me , but shittiest tone ever and RacerX sucked ass on a whole those albums made me cringe, which was to bad cause they were all great musicians. Seeing them live was like torture omg like a fucking ice pick in the eye/ear.
(Pauls a billion times the player now of course).. and his tone is better.
Yngwies "blues" playing which people laugh at the notion that it's blues at all, but it's blues to me and not many can touch it imo. With all due respect tho he's Uli, Blackmore and Jimi rolled into one, but that ain't a bad thing.

BTW, I came across a better synch'd version of Blackstar which is definitely earlier than the last:
Oh, and here's a cool spot he did for Fender's anniversary, not sure how old it is as I don't know the year anniversary:

I kind of think he deserves to be drunk and fat and banging supermodels when he's not busy crashing Ferrari's, because that was fucking amazing.

I remember the first time my buddy played me the (then) new Marching Out CD. It was my first encounter with YJM, and it was one of those world-changing moments. I still feel that little chill every time I hear early Yngwie stuff.
I just wish the guy could've aged a bit more gracefully than he has.
