Jon Shaffer (Iced Earth) is a very nice guy and quite the history buff.He has one cool ass Revolutionary war museum in Indiana.
I met him at RSguitarworks a few years ago and was surprised how nice he was.Actually owned a L.P.he had at one time.

Jon is definitely a true Riff Lord, in my opinion. I'm a total fanboy though, I'd cherish that LP.

Awesome band..but Barlow will ALWAYS be their voice IMO! I could post similiar bands in that style.

Yes, Jon is quite the cilvil war buff and collector. I think he had/has a store and website too ..if I'm not mistaken.

I talked to and hung out with those guys during the SWTWC ..'98/'99

Mine have to be Bonded by Blood, its megadeth and exodus' kid, they sound AMAZING. Two more would be Pestilence and Attomica. Good Call on Attomica..I have their 89/91 releases limits of insanity and disturbing the noise. I think they have a couple before that.

BTW I'm finally got Atheist's reunion and 4th studio "Jupiter"..awesome. But they went from Relapse to Season Of Mist..that's odd, because those 3 remastered releases SOLD very well, and the originals still command big bucks with collectors.

Man I could be here forever..really.

I think Daylight Dies. They create MUSIC!!! I'm so excited to see them in Milan next week!!
Also check out "Rapture" from Finland. How can a band like this does not have a label... That's to sad..

Sorry. Anyone who would say Opeth is underrated isn't really into metal.

Opeth was like the #1 mallcore band for over half a decade...

To me, anything after Still Life is commercial prog and is way overrated.

so 2 of my favs teamed up (opeth+mastodon), to do a tour, and they have this band called ghost opening up for them. to be fair i dont think they are even rated let alone underrated but i thought some of you oldtimers that like an old twist to their new metal would like them, i personally cant get these songs out of my head, and cant recommend them enough.
