    • Armored Saint was a fantastic band I agree and never got the recognition they deserved.
      Savatage was another.
Renaissance in the 70's was just incredible live.A mix of rock and classical.Saw them live plenty of times.
SRC kicked ass too saw them smoke Bob Seeger at Cobo Hall arena in 69.
      Really? well screw Mark Twain.

Plus, DLR's songs were all about the pussy, and Sammy's were deeper. the irony is, he probly got/gets more than Dave. Plus he plays guitar. very well and had some influence on Ed's style. I noticed that after Sam joined that Ed started using these huge barre chords with open strings ringing underneath em. Also, they tuned 1/4 step down w Dave and rarely to drop d. Look at all the diff tunings they had in 5150 alone. Then afterwards it was either 1/2 step or standard. Sammy had range man. And a better voice. Of course thats jmo, and I know Im a minority in the thought. Still, Sammy is a great musician
There's nothing deep about Hagar's lyrics, philistine garbage at its best, Dave at least was honest about his intentions.
Ed always played big chords with different voicings. Rhythm playing wise Ed did pretty much everything during the VH days. During the Van Hagar days his lead style became a little different... more "traditional" and melodic.
If you are interested in pussy contest then ask Neil Zlozower about it, there's simply no contest, Dave had more girls than any other rockstar during the day.
Different tunings had more to do with Ed's writing than singer's voice range. Hagar obviously has no problems adapting different keys and Dave obviously can do his thing regardless of what's going on, it was Mike's job to hit those highs.
There's no doubt about Hagar's abilities, the issue is more about Van Halen vs. Van Hagar - spontaneous Cream and ZZ Top inspired groovy rock band vs. more polished 80's housewife AOR type of thing.

                Van hagar-Police, Undercovers, Feds.

Sammy can sing, not denying it, but the band had no balls anymore, actually
Fair warning was VH's peak, they started to slip a little after that tour. I'd love to slip like that.

Dude, your thought process reminds me of Dostoevsky! Seriously..............

                  • If that would be the case then I'd be writing about rather calmly behaving Hagar's psychological process when he looks himself in the mirror and how it led him to believe that this whole beach bum and cabo wabo crap is cool compared to Roth's hyper energetic personality and clown-like behaviour which is in contrast with his feelings of guilt and how instead of cheesy tequila parties in Mexico he opted to volunteer as an emergency medic in the Bronx.

                    • Oh Yeah, Roth is such a good guy getting arrested buying his hash...while he was "volunteering in the Bronx" and I don't care how you slice it...it is a controlled substance....I can see how you can agree with his priorites given your thought process........I think one of us really does not understand Dostoevsky and that person is not me.... Dostoevsky was a paradox and a contradictor and don't try to give me some BS that you know more than all the scholars that have come before you or I.... Once again you try to construct sentences that you hope make people think you KNOW what you are talking about but it a bunch of BS.............

You confuse me with someone who cares about how people treat themselves when it comes to substances. He broke the law... holy shit, I'm going to cry.
Of course you don't understand Fyodor if you compare my internet message board blabbering to his work... and even if the comparison is meant to be a joke then it comes out as shit as his work essentially comes form Stendhal's character study while my internet blabbering in this thread did not.
Your last sentence is another proof that you don't understand Fyodor, with your 2nd grade level analysis of what I hope to achieve here (and failing miserably, I'm here to stir up shit and I'm not hoping anything as I know that I succeed, which is pretty evident) how can you possibly figure out his characters?

                              • Let me tell you something, If Axl wasn't such a primadonna, GnR was poised to become
the Rolling Stones of the modern time. Slash, although not technically as
proficient as others, has the songwriting end down, and truly became a very tasty player, the most important part. I thought he
                                really improved as they went.
