    I dunno.....

you cant blame him though steve clark to me wasnt very much a player i thought that pete willis was better but overall all of the guitar players that where in def leppard are boring.
steve clark didnt even do solos only on the 1st and 2nd album he did and pete did also
so yea i could see why hes bitching
vivian should quit that pretty boy def leppard band and go back to the music people want to hear from him heavy metal

What are you talking about? Steve didn't play solos? I wonder why Joe say's "Come on Steve" in Armageddon It, just before the solo then? One of the best solos DL ever did by the way.
I can't even understand what the fuck you're saying, maybe I picked you up wrong?

No, you didn't pick him up wrong. He didn't graduate from first grade yet.

I think Viv is just being Viv... I don't think he means any disrespect for anyone.

I will say I agree 100000% with what he says about High & Dry. Lep needs to go back to a gritty and not so polished sound. All the songs sound the same on the last few albums. They will never top the production of Hysteria, so why try? I don't understand why they state that Rick would have a hard time playing drums... those are simple straight up beats on High & Dry, right?

I'd also be interested to see who thinks that Viv could outshred Phil. Phil is GREAT and I love him... but my vote goes to Dio era (chops in shape) Viv!!!! Pick up that Kramer Night Swan Viv!

After Viv saying the band want to have a harder edge again, their new live album will be called....
              "Mirrorball".....

it's a hard-edged album from a band with a conscience - they are holding up a mirror to society, and doing it with balls.

                Hence, "Mirrorballs".

                Hail yesterday

                  Mirrorball, ha ha.

They need to quit listening to Sarah Mclachlan in the dressing room before they hit the stage.

I'm not trying to start an argument (and I will admit now my opinion of Mr. Campbell isn't very high and hasn't been for a long time.) Just from the Viv can out shred Phil part of this topic - can someone point out a couple songs he did that really shred? I have Last in Line and Holy Diver and to be honest I don't find anything on those two albums as all that impressive guitar wise. It may be because when I listen to them I'm focused on Dio more then anything else. But I'm just curious what stands out as really shredding.

I think with the fact this was something going to press that he might have wanted to think about a better way to say what he said. I don't think there was any intent to be rude or discount the guys life. I totally understand what he meant.

Viv seems like a guy who likes to bitch and moan a lot. Didn't he go on a rant about Gibson and yet he still plays them? If he didn't want to play second fiddle to Phil then why did he join DL?

For the record Phil claims to hate ballads and slow songs that DL does because he wants to shred more. I'll find the youtube video if anyone is interested. So I don't think Viv is the only one tired of the lack of edge DL has been showing.

And one snide remark about mr. campbell. Joe has a side project, Phil has one, i would imagine the others have things to do. Why doesn't he do his own band project and shred all he wants? Show the world how good you are instead of living off the Dio years.
In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

That crack from bravewords about Dio losing their chemistry after VC left is a load of shit. The interviewer takes knee to swallow cock. Dream Evil is the strongest album Dio ever recorded, and RJD had great chemistry with Craig Goldie.

Viv did a solo album where have you been?
It was a shitty blues thing, a rip off of Gary Moore if you like, only shit. No shredding to be heard so...yeah, I don't get his fucking moaning about no shredding either.

That's for sure. And, reading between the lines, it seems to happen most often when a) he doesn't get his way in a group or other situation, and he decides it's then OK to "communicate" his discontent through the press instead and/or b) he's being overly defensive to a perceived criticism (real or not) of his own guitar playing or role within a group.

Viv is a very good guitar player. But, as a bandmate or artist to be endorsed, he just seems like an utter douche to deal with.

Vivian Cambel NEVER impressed me. I never understood his popularity..his solos sound like typical 80's "shredder' hack" that thousands of players did better at that time. Dio was the best thing that happened to him...that lucky fuck.

He doesn't suck..he's just not THAT good.

I went to see Whitesnake in '87 ..when they supported the girls, girls, girls tour. I was front and center..belly to the stage. I was Soooooooooooooooooo fuggin' pissed when Vivian walked on the stage. I went to that show to see one of my faves..John Sykes. I was so mad ..I popped a grape! So, I completely ignored Vivian (fuggums) and watched the flying dutchman instead!

BTW..aside from Dio. Viv's best work of his career was with Riverdogs. That's actually a very good release..any fan of Viv should have. I give personal credit to Viv for ONE thing. He was the one that turned me onto the BBE 422. I had a '90 vid where he praised that unit when he was uses nothing but his Randall's and the mandatory 4 foot tall 1990's rack o' shit...

I have his classic instructional video on VHS. I did like those nightswans at that time. When you watched those instructionals from Vinnie Moore, Greg Howe, Paul Gilbert. Malmsteen and such..Viv just seemed so insignificant..during his heyday.

BTW..if Gary Moore replaced John Sykes in WS instead of this dweeb..that would have stimulated blood flow to my pp.

Gary Moore alongside David Coverversion? That would never have happened.
