  • Did anyone here catch Paul McCartney on SNL last night?

that was a badass performance...THAT mutherfucker has STILL got it!..40 + years later and he STILL brings the house down, and not because of nostalgia..it was because it was a truly AWESOME performance.
If you haven't seen it you should youtube SNL Paul McCartney and put on your headphones.

Lookit 7:18 to 7:23...Paul has a look like he cant believe they pulled it off....then look at 7:48..Keyboardist looks to heaven with a "THANK YOU" look on his face...like he had no idea that they were good enough to pull it off right then. This performance was one showcasing musicianship that was just fucking awesome. Bunch of professionals that were just having FUN.

The lead guitar was way too loud and the vocals were not loud enough...

Saw it a while back, that was a repeat. And it's closer to 50 years since he hit the scene with the Beatles. Those particular songs are almost 40 years old. It's no fluke that he's still around, he is nothing but a pro. McCartney is one of my all time favorites, I can watch him play anytime. Unfortunately it was a bad mix, but a great performance nonetheless.

Would that any of us rock as hard when we are 68 (!) years old.

Maybe I'm just not getting it. Paul's voice...come on. It just wasn't good. He sounded like he was struggling the whole time. The backing vocals were way better than his. Maybe I'm biased because I've never been a fan but this performance didn't give me a reason to be one. The music was performed well.

He's almost 70, dude. You'll be lucky if you can still piss when you're 70, let alone sing.

I torched up my bic and was all smiles.
Without question you can criticize the mix which that in itself wasn't McCarthy's fault.
But you can't doubt nor question their musicianship.
It may not be your musical preference, even so, it rocked to me.
Some of the greatest songs written to this day came from the Beatles and the Stones.
Peace, Love and Happieness and all that stuff...

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

What gets me every time when it comes to this...I can hear the recordings every day on the radio and be like "meh" and switch the station with no problem. But seeing him perform those songs live. I just couldn't NOT love it nor look away. The only thing I wish is that I was there on the night it happened.

If you are REALLY lucky you'll do both simultaneously.

Why even bother with irrelevant SNL?

                        Sandwiched between talentless ass clowns?

Same old songs... and if he is such a legend why was the sound mix so very awful?
                        Hope someone got fired?

I watched it... and I did look away...

I don't particularly love the Beatles, I have nothing against them or Paul. He's still doing his thing & good for him. But what exactly did he pull off from 7:18 to 7:23? He was 2 minutes into his second set... it was just a segue dude. Big deal

Eh...I guess you just had to be feeling the moment to understand where I am coming from with this. If you're not...that's on you. I got no problem enjoying things that others don't.

I didn't have an issue with the music. It's his voice...it just wasn't good, regardless of his age.

I'll probably be in a coma by the time I'm 70 Ozzy gets ripped on all the time on this board because of his voice. Paul's isn't nearly as bad as Ozzy's, but even my wife, who doesn't scrutinize music like I do and is a huge fan of Paul and the Beatles, asked me if there was something wrong with the mix or if his voice really sounded that bad.
