You guys rock. None of my friends even know the names we are all discussing here.
But I like George (and Dokken too Ron! . He brought a blues sound and an amazing tone to the scene that inspired other players. It's hard watching these guys get older. Some of them just need to take better care of themselves. I have a friend who sings and plays guitar professionally for 50 years. His vocal range is so strong you wouldn't believe it and he is 68 years old. I believe it can be done. Shame about Don's vocals. I caught them a few years ago and was not impressed. Glad to see them still touring tough.
        Rock On!

I to was a GL fan & by proxy Dokken fan. Don could croon like nobody else. The time and the styles fit then. Now not so much. Being a GL fan I am not going to toss him under the bus. The guy knows tone (even if he still is a gear whore), he has put out more great hits/riffs/etc than I ever have, and he seems like a genuine good guy. With that I saw Dokken last summer, pretty good show. Don's voice was so-so, Levin played the tunes spot on and his tone wasn't bad either. To boot he was playing a Charvel strathead.

Recognizing reality is not throwing him under the bus. He was great but he just isn't what he used to be. It's sad but denying it isn't going to change it. Don needs to quit smoking and so does George for that matter; whio STARTS smoking in his 50s? But the main reason there won't be a Dokken reunion is that Jeff has a dream job in Foreigner. He'd be crazy to give up that gig to fight with Don and George again, especially in their current state. Maybe if they rehab their voice and guitar playing, respectively, and Mick Jones decides to retire, maybe then.

that's the beauty of music and how we all hear it.
I've seen both bands, dokken probably 5 times in the 80's, once at radio city which was cool cuz it's not a huge venue. saw the lynch mob once when the 1st album came out. It wasn't even close. i like their songs alot more than dokkens. even their 2nd album with robert mason singing was a great album.
Oni Logan in the studio is one of my favorite voices, ray gillen too.Oni's not as strong live, but when you think about it who really is? Unless you're robert plant.

True, everyone hears with different ears. I saw Dokken at Irvine Meadows with Great White opening when Under Lock and Key was out. I thought that was a great show. Never saw Lynch Mob because when i heard the album i thought they were trying to copy Whitesnake and it just wasn't that great to me. I thought Don's solo band with John Norum and Billy White was a lot better guitarwise than George trying to do the Whitesnake/Badlands kind of thing. Just my opinion though.

oh no richie , not a whitesnake rip at all, listen to the album again, trust me , it's a must have in any hard rock collection.
the first Lynch Mob album is still en fuego to this day.

Heres a song by Dokken but its the George Lynch solo that kicks it up. No shredding but George had a knack for kicking ass without hyperspeed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2lTPuvB-Sc

I agree, 100%. Even though I've heard from everyone who's ever met George Lynch that he's an asshole, he still had a unique sound, and his talent can not be denied. He's still one of the best guitarists out there.

When I had my Warmoth guitar built, while being mainly a fan of the heavier Metal, the tone I wanted to gun for was George Lynch's from "In My Dreams." It's just an amazing tone and riff.

FWIW, "Back For the Attack" ranks up there in my personal "Top 10 Metal Albums Of All Time" list.

I'm yet to hear someone wield a guitar that can just play George under the table like he wasn't even standing there. Sorry, ain't gonna happen.

If anything, from judging this video, the only embarrassment was Don Dokken, who doesn't have shit for a voice anymore.

I've always liked that album. Probably my favorite Ratt album.

FWIW, Ratt just released a new album not too long ago, and it's pretty decent. Check it out. It sounds like Ratt during their good days. I like it.

Great example of Lynch's talents. For me it was always about the mini melodies in George's solos. His speed was impressive, but the hooks were what really left me in awe.
