I have a 4 digit serial number PC1 with a mega fat neck. Loads fatter than any of the other half dozen PC1's that I own or have owned.

Next step is indeed TI saddles but for that price I actually could buy yet another PC!

I should have mentioned that both Phil and I tune down 1/2 step. That sort of changes things!LOL!

In all honesty, I really don't think the saddles are going to make any difference. Lighter, yes. Never wear or break, yup! But make a difference that is worth that amount of money? Nope!

Some twenty years ago Phil's old guitar tech, Stan Schiller tossed me a pack or two of GHS 11's and told me to build up my fingers. I thought he was nuts but I gave it a go. Then I ended up with 12's a few years later and finally settled in on 13's just like Phil.

I does not take as much as you think and you can still easily shred with them. The tone is simply brutal!

Now all of my guitars (mainly PC1's and Les Paul's) are ALL strung with 13's

Do you also use a metal pick?

I like 13's because of the fat tone but to me in standard tuning at least some screaming overtones are too weak so I settle for 11's.
Phil has some amazing screaming overtones coming out of his guitar and now I see why, a metal pick. But I don't like metal picks, too bad...

Ya Dunlop makes 3 sizes and Phil uses a .38mm pic.

That helps cut through with the thick strings as well.

Dunlop metal picks are too thin for my attack, I'd bend the hell out of them. When I was at Tommy's place, he used metal picks... I could only play a few minutes with them just to deform them and piss him off

Try one of the Dava metal tipped picks. They are a cool design and the way they just use a metal edge allows them to keep the metal thick but the pick fairly light.
