+1. Great player and a great guy. Seen him with Dio and with Whitesnake. He added so much to both projects.

I use his Suhr pick ups. They're fantastic.
And yes, I'm a big fan of his playing from back in his Lion days.
Always had/has a great tone and I love his phrasing. Very much in the Sykes mold, who I'm also a big fan of.

I strongly agree with all of the above. Wasn't on my radar at all under I saw him play with Dio. One of a select handful of players in the 'tasty' category.

He's good, but Reb Beach was better when I saw Whitesnake. Aldrich looked the part, and played great. Reb looked like some hobo that had stumbled in off the street but played like a fucking monster.

I've followed Doug in most of his previous bands (Lion, Hurricane, Bad Moon Rising, etc ...) and I like his playing.
But I really don't like his tone with Whitesnake, too much gain IMHO.

His Burning Rain stuff is awesome I have the two he put out around 2001/2002..

Fucking expensive imports..back in the day. I stopped buying that stuff. Even WS '97 Restless Heart was a $40 Japanese import. Crappy album too..but nobody gave a fuck about bands like this in the states. At THAT Time..Things are definitely different now.

One of the tastier players of the time, and just gets better all the time. I've been a fan since his Lion days as well - he was playing white 2 hum Soloists with Kahlers then. His work on the Hurricane album was stellar as well. He can do no wrong in my eyes. His solo stuff was pretty tasty too.

He can shred with the best of them but his non shred stuff is great. Anybody who played with dio is great in my book. When I was first learning guitar I used to just watch youtube videos cos tabs confused the fuck outta me, he had some good videos that I learned some riffs from

Great guy and a great player. I got to hang out with him at a NAMM show at the Grove in Anaheim. Gave me and my buddies VIP lounge access, let me play his custom Les Paul. Very humble and down to earth guy.

I agree! Doug is a bad ass! Kinda old school (as in not much for sweeps-lots of fast pentatonics) I love his tone and phrasing!
