Is Metallica trying to make fans hate them..? IMO Metallica peaked in the 80's, and I hated them ever since.

I was shaving and my wife happened to stop channel surfing on their last live ..whatever. It was horrible!!! It really really really sucked! She agreed. Anyone with the gift of hearing must agree....or they're in complete fanboy denial.

She got into Van Halen recently though thanks to the local rock radio station, so its not all bad.

Well, this is true really. But my mom and dad have less than 20 years on me. In Fact..my first records were my dads. He turned me onto Black Sabbath when I was a kid..it scared the shit outta me (Iron Man) . I loved it ever since. I stole all his records..or the ones I liked..The guess Who, Spooky Tooth, Iron Butterfly, Hendrix, Alice Cooper..and some really weird shit. That was pretty cool really. I guess the stuff that was considered cutting edge, or heavy..is classic rock now. Ain't that a bitch!!

My dad sowed the seeds really..in alot of ways. It just snowballed from there. He could NEVER relax to Deicide. The day my mom or dad start to sing or dance to Deicide..it's time to find new metal.

My mum is about 65, 30 years older than me, she was never into my music when I was a teenager. She had no problem with it, just didnt listen to it.

Its kinda annoying to keep being told I should play like Eddie Van Halen in my band cos everyone will be blown away, like its a new thing lmao!
"Have you heard this guy in Van Halen play guitar, its amazing, Ive never heard guitar playing like it! Here listen to this song "Eruption"!"

Yeah, I've fuckin heard it - 20 years ago mum! :lol

You're still way behind the times - I heard it 33 years ago!

And my Mom turned me on to VH (Alex was the drummer in her band back in the early 70s)

Yep . 33 years RX,, opening for Sabbath. I was there . Who was that kid on guitar getting screwed by the guy on the board making him sound like sheeeeeeeit. Then it all cleared up , and Tony played. Love Tony, but funny how that worked. Atleast back then. And it could have been Rat Salad, not Van Halen. Odd coincidence.
