  • Anyone remember House of Lords?

They were rehearsing at RVP(the studio that I work at) last night. I was never much of a fan, but they sounded pretty tight. We had Average White Band earlier this week as well. Talk about a tight band!

They were a good band, but i always thought they were a whitesnake ripoff.

the first 2 records were kickass AOR, I kinda lost track of them after that, but those first 2 are excellent.

It was kinda weird. I went in that day and didn't have much to do so I was looking in the theater (the large room with a stage and full backline and front end) for a stool that somebody borrowed and never returned and there was this band setting up. I recognized the guitar player (Jimi Bell) as I have a few mutual friends of his. He was having trouble with one of the Marshall 1960a's. Said he thought one of the speakers was blown. I just happened to finish replacing a speaker in another 1960 that was still in my shop so I swapped it out for him. He was also trying to figure out how to use a first generation POD that he had. He was trying to put it into the front of a Marshall Vintage Modern we have. I talked him into running it into the return on the loop. He seemed pretty happy with his tone after that. So I walk out and ask the girl who does the booking "who's that band?" when she said House of Lords, it was kinda like being in the twilight zone. "Really? The same House of Lords from the 80's?" Weird stuff.

I drove through downtown Saturday night and saw a sign in front of Daniel St saying House of Lords was playing. Must have been why they were practicing in the area.

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

James Chrsitian is from Milford, and Jimi is from up Hartford way. Not sure if BJ Zampa and Chris McCarvill are still in the lineup (drums/bass respectively), but they are local as well. RVP is pretty decent rates/space
