Certainly something has to evolve, dubstep is about 10 years old, this itself evolved from 2step Garage and dnb in South London. While dubstep mostly is still pretty underground (but not as underground as Broken Beat which was born pretty much at the same time in West London from dnb and sounds cooler) and probably remain so then Post-Dubstep is the next big thing. This direction will rule the airwaves for years. Many of the highest selling pop divas are already using those elements in their music.

But brostep is post-dubstep gone horribly wrong.
It was started by Rusko who did a tune called "Cockney Thug" which appealed to fratboys and metalheads when he toured across the Atlantic. That kind of approach became huge in North America where very few produce actual dubstep. They took the idea further and started using very high pitched and distorted wobble basslines. Very metallic and robotic sounds. Most of it is utter crap.
The whole wobble thing isn't actually new. Some speed garage tunes used it... horrible abomination of 2step, the worst chav music there is. Even some really bad hard jump-up dnb used it at the same time when jungle had developed into intelligent electronic music made by Goldie or LTJ Bukem.

We were listening to jungle, drum n bass, and dubstep tracks over ragga fm (a pirate station in Bristol) back in 96, that would be before fucking London even knew who Craig David was. And whilst we are at it, Fuck Craig David! Shamon....

Andy C, Ronnie Size. Those were the guys to listen for. LTJ Bukem was a Happy hardcore DJ who switched later when that shit went out of phase (or his E's ran out). Goldie was late the the party but had some success since London always manages to rustle up local support.

What was always cool about the Bristol scene was the ability of the Metal and Jungle crowd to mix. We would be at an Obituary show in the Bierkeller and there would be a bunch of rastas there just chilling. And we would go to jungle events at what became Lacota on the Gloucester road. Cool times man!

Pretty funny, Goldie early on hung out with Grooverider and other cats who well.... came up with the whole thing. Late to the game? You mean the era which is considered by most fans as the most creative one... when he released his best stuff. And who had more balls than he did... one hour tunes with over 20 min. intros and outros.
And Bukem happy hardcore? WTF? He indeed did some old school hardcore early on like did all of the jungle innovators... no happy hc bullshit. And what do you mean switched later, Bukem had his first releases out with his signature style before there even was happy hardcore. And the legendary "Demon's Theme" came out in '91.

Why can't Bristol guys get over the fact that dubstep came out from South London? And when one has MJ Cole then one doesn't need to worry about shit like Craig David. Bristol definitely has the world's best trip-hop which is much better than any recent ...step movement but c'mon the first dubheads aren't from Bristol.

I went through a Korn phase when Issues came out, and they sort of lost me after that. Issues was a really strong album though, IMHO.

I've heard this on the radio and thought "eh", which is pretty much the same reaction I've had to any of their stuff since around 2005. Take a Look in the Mirror (2003) was the last album I bought by them.
