Saw that on Facebook yesterday. Surprised he's using 13-56 strings. Still too light for my tastes though.

Hey,..his tech...that's my beard and baldness...!!!

      That's not right

I saw Iced Earth several times since SWTWC back in '98. He was using one Laryy Halfstack with BBE 422 sitting on top, and using an A/B switch it a Roland Jazz 120 Chorus combo for his cleans. Then When Ripper joined he went with two Uberschalls with Marshal Cabs..prolly one for cleans and for his main brotalz sounds. I thought it sounded amazing...very tight.

Then he went back with Larry..I see he's using Marshall prolly for cleans..
No matter what Jon plays..it sounds exactly like his sig tone..his hands.

I must add that Stu Bloc is blowing me away on their new album. Yes, he can do Barlow better than Barlow I'm a huge Matt fan) and has MUCH more range than Ripper. What a fantastic choice...IMO!!! He has his own singing style which is all over the record but since it is IE I'm sure he channeled Barlow to get that IE sound.

      Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!

I met Jon at rsguitarworks a few years ago and he is a great guy. Very friendly and is a huge history buff, even has a museum of military history.
rsguitarworks has done lots of work for him so I have seen most all of his guitars at one point or another.
I bought a vintage mahogany L.P. that was his.
He can make a Roland cube sound great no kidding! His picking hand is so freakin' fast its hard to follow even up close.
        Really? well screw Mark Twain.

seems like a pretty cool guy. i don't pay much attention to iced earth, so it was a bit of a surprise to see him with gibson's instead of that bc rich he used to play.

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

I don't know Iced Earth at all, but I liked how he seemed really cool and down to earth. Total gear head without seeming like a big gear geek. I also liked how he said he chooses his pickups based on how they match/sound with a particular guitar. I totally agree that 2 like guitars can sound completely different even though they are made with the same woods, specs, pickups, etc.

When I saw them in 08 for The Crucible, he had a combo under the stage, not sure what it was though.

Bill, where the hell you been?

Very cool to hear him talk about his gear. Definitely passionate about what he does. I've seen IE a couple times - always a good show. Hopefully they will swing through Cleveland (or somewhere close) on this tour so I can check them out again.
