  • Those are awesome. The vocals sound like Paul Stanley does VH.

    • Wow..yer right. All these years I thought he sounds like DLR , but with a mix of someone I can't put my finger on. Paul Stanely. Yeah, He sounds like Dave and Paul's love child.

I'm singing background vox on SGMAD ..you can hear me loud as shit. I felt so gay. and you can hear me on that stupid original. My prob with that song is that I wanted to do a more traditional HFT..double bass, boogie, ass kicker VH type thing..instead of that poop. I said "Both Sides of the Tracks".."WTF is that..does that mean we smoke pole too?"...hahhaaa

        • Thanks Cliff. You know I have a crappy 1996 VHS tape of 90 minutes of our show...including my bass solo. The audio is very good. I had it tranfered to DVD to send to Donnie before he left us. I always wanted someone to simply edit it, with song titles..whatever. I like to send that disc ..who can post some parts on YT.

It's just kinda cool being mid 90's and all. Every dude in the place had Mullets..including me. ..Well I was Mike Anthony. Oh, I have pantied all over me. A girl took them off right in from of the camera and my wife and chased me around the stage during Atomic Punk..and that opened the panty floodgates. That is on this disc.

Ummm I don't know how to do any of that stuff. I'm just here with my Peeps..

            • I got the cd the day it came out and I'm just now getting the chance to give it a good listening. I'm really digging it. Eddie still has it with room to spare. Alex is solid as ever. Wolfie (unlike Alex) is actually being allowed to play bass on the tracks instead of just pumping eigth notes. And Dave is.... Well he's Dave.

I certainly don't hear any other CDs that just rock like this right now. All in all, it's a VH record. And that's exactly what I wanted it to be.

A few years ago I had the opportunity to play in my dads band a few times. He was older and on his way out and I was the young hotshot on the way up. I know that meant the world to him, and I see the same thing when Eddie looks over at Wolfie.

May or may not be the band you are referring to but HELLENBACH !!! Great Van Halen wanna-be band. That first album of theirs with the camo cover, good stuff.

Not too change the subject but I always thought when Izzy left the GNR sound ( that hanoi rocks meets early stones sound ) left with him. The illusion records with the exception of a couple songs were pop rubbish. Anyway back to the subject.... As long as EVH keeps writing safe keybord infused pop songs it doesnt matter who sings in the band. it will be dissapointing.

                  • As a long-time VH fan, especially the DLR-era, I was disappointed when I watched the Tatoo video a couple months back. So disappointed that I wasn't interested in buying the album or concert tickets, although that has more to do with my disappointment when I saw them in 2008. Anyway, after reading the positive remarks a lot of you posted about the REST of the album, I checked it out on iTunes. I liked what I was hearing from the preview listens (and I like that iTunes gives you 1:30 to preview a song, unlike the old Tower site that was only :30 and usually crappy quality), and the whole album was only $7.99! So I purchased it, and I am really liking it, this is more like what I expected with Roth back. And Eddie's playing is On Fire (pun intended)! It gets a big thumbs-up from me. Now I regret not getting tickets for Atlanta last week

Don't. I saw them in DC a few weeks back. While Eddie sounds great (sobriety will do that), Dave is...well, YouTube this tour. You'll see what I mean. Last tour he kept in his comfortable range and put on a decent show. This time around, he's just out there. Singing "Dance the Night Away" in a higher register that he can't even fully realize and throwing chocolate around. Eesh.

                      • Glad I saved my money. When I saw them on the last tour, it was later into the tour (Fed 2008), and Eddie was NOT sober. It was not pretty. But Dave sounded decent. Now it sounds like they've switched - Eddie is playing great, but Dave is no good. Oh well, the album is good and I saved some money (actually, I saved a LOT of money -lol) not going to the show.

                        • I LOVE "A different kind of Truth"...it's a great record after a few listens. I'm so proud and glad to hear Ed playing great again..and his son too.

                          I'll elaborate later.

Yeah, basically. The album is good, but the live show leaves something to be desired. Time to fire Dave and use that "Tupac hologram" technology to bring back '82-'86 Dave (or just hire Ralph Saenz). ;p

                              +1

I saw the March show in Toronto. I would say this: The problem is not Edward or Alex or Wolfgang. I thought as a band, they sound great. Tight, in your pocket , loud and hard. Dave was HORRIBLE. What bothers me most is every few songs he would sing something that sounded great. Then he would sing 3 that sounded like SHIT. Which leads to believe he can actually sing better the he does. He just doesn’t. The other thing that bothers me is he looks to be in great shape for his age, yet he walks around the fukin stage like he’s 99 years old. I don't get it. He’s just lost that stride and stagger. It sucks cause I was a fan. Was.
I think the DLR hologram is a stellar idea.

Too bad for the rest of the band cause I believe they are still relevant.
-Now....shut up n play yer guitar

really I hope they have something on there better than that, what pap.
