not many on this planet love the first 4 albums more than me, i was not expecting much, but i agree with bill it's good to see eddie play a solo again,
it's nothing new but it's still good to see. they'll have some better tunes than this one , if not, then yikers.
Not helping the situation since 1965!

I agree, I'm optimistic that thre will be better stuff than this on the new album. I was a HUGE fan of everything up to Fair Warning, I must have seen them live 30 or so times back then and It IS great to see Eddie at least attempt being his former self. Actually, Tattoo is groing on me a little, I still thing the chorus is corny as hell though..

Having heard "Tattoo," "The Trouble with Never" and "Blood and Fire" in their entirety...my expectations for this album have sunk. The music is okay (it all sounds like b-sides, which makes sense given they're based on demos and the like that were already culled for bigger and better songs), but Dave...well, he's gone overboard since Skyscraper so I'm not too shocked.

I expected more. I really, really wanted to be shocked and fall in love with what was put out. Time to hang it up guys.

I passed on buying tix given the price and state of the band. A kick ass opening group might have swayed me, maybe another long time band or two from the LA Strip days.

Kool & the Gang? Seriously? I know they have some big party tunes from decades ago, but not really something I want to pay to see.

Is there a story behind the Kool and the Gang choice? Like how or why? Same management company maybe? It seems so very odd.

                    Yup.

Take some of the "shine" off the production quality and its like the good ol' days.

I have listened (as I type) to the new Van Halen album several times (yes it’s out there)and personally, I really like it. More and more as I listen to it. It’s worth a few listens guitar dudes…..
I mean if you like old Van Halen I just don’t see how you couldn’t like this….I don't miss Mike near as much as I thought I would....Wolf sounds solid to me....seems to fit right in...

I think its good stuff.....nothing ground breaking sure, but is that what you really thought it would be?

                      Van Halen to me......IS BACK!
-Now....shut up n play yer guitar

Not feeling it too much but Ed can still play a boogie! The saddest thing for me about VH's evolution over the years is Ed stopped just grooving and going for it and was too caught up in trying to 'compose' songs.

I liked Stay Frosty. That and The Trouble With Never are so much better than Tattoo. Whoever decided to release that song first was an idiot, imo.
