Bought the new AAL, "weightless", pretty good stuff. Their music is complex but palatable, also because the songs are not too long, which for me means good songwriting skills: very, very few songs justify their lenght, maybe Stairway, Free Bird...
To me they sound like a mix between a less pompous Dream Theater and Meshuggah, they have DT's melodic ambitions and Meshuggah's Obzen-era "rubbery" feel to their songs, also because of the twin 8-string line up. Certainly the musicianship is stellar, but what surprised me the most is how listenable, for lack of a better term, the whole CD is.
