Steve Lynch is the only pony show with Autograph. I find the band musically nauseating. Some of the worst 80's "metal" recorded..."My Girfreind's Boyfreind isn't Me". That's not cleaver, gay, cute, funny, or cool..it just sucks! But Steve Lynch was one of the dudes that brought tapping to a much wider range and level.
Steve Lynch not tapping is like Linda Lovelace not sucking....or visa versa."Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"
Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!

don't forget Jeff Watson was also doing the 8-finger tapping.
respect where it's due to Steve Lynch, but I'm guessing Night Ranger songs with Watson's tapping got more airplay than Autograph songs. come to think of it, did NR ever open for VH?!? I think we're on to something here! ;-)

Nobody forgot Jeff's 8 finger tappin' in '82...I learned it. I had to!
But Jeff's tapping was all on ONE string, 4 finger on each hand...ummm let's talk Stanley Jordan..which is Piano bass/treble applied to guitar. Bass players like Stu Hamm made that popular. I learned that to. I had to. The bass stuff came pretty natural for me. Much more than guitar. I guess big strings, string spacing, and clean piano tones were the reason...and it was just 4 strings to. Tony Levin did that for me, watching him in '81 on a Chapman. Hey! Ed jammed with Tony Levin..that's not fair.
We were talkin' bout Ed tellin' players that are known for tappin'..not to. I guess you had to be in Ed's club like Holdsworth to do yo thang..
Billy Shehan auditioned for VH BITD, but Alex wanted the spotlight to be on his bro. That wouldv'e been amazing in '78, if ya think about it. But they went with Mike..who's very underrated. No, Not his drunken, silly solos..his actual plaing is very good! I know, I learned them...I had to!Last edited by horns666; 02-15-2012, 11:41 PM."Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"
