I forget how good Michael was back in the day. Check out the videos 1980. On the second video almost sounds like some Jack Butler riffs before Jack Butler !!!!

MSG is playing in Cleveland in a couple weeks at a small club. I was thinking about checking him out since I've never seen him live.

Yeah, he was awesome. There are some really nice, old videos of him playing Into The Arena on youtube where he's really on fire.

Saw him with UFO several times and then MSG in the 80's. He ripped. Haven't seen him in ages.

he's the man who made me want to play guitar.
easily the most melodic rock player ever.
                    and still my favorite player.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

Michael's been sober lately and his playing is on fire. I saw him in 2011 (or maybe early 2012) at Jaxx here in Virginia, and he was fantastic. He *looks* old and fragile now, but you wouldn't know it from his playing. I don't know who his current touring band is, but he had Robin MacAuley on vocals when I last saw him, and they did an awesome selection of UFO, Scorpions and MSG tunes. Oddly enough, they only sang one Schenker/MacAuley Group song.

Damn, he must be a smart dude. His English is damn near perfect and without the distinct German accent. Listen to his brother Rudy speak English and you'll hear the difference.

I recall years ago Rudy saying his brother who was really young at the time was kicking ass on the guitar and could damn near play anything and smoked guys twice his age.

Very under rated guitarist IMO and a true pro.

I think Michael's language abilities are due to the fact that he spends a LOT more time in the US compared to Rudy. Yeah, I'm a Schenker Bros fan too, Michael for his riffing wizardry and leads, Rudy for being the driving force and primary songwriter of the Scorpions!

Indeed, last I heard he was living in Nevada or Arizona. But my comment was based on the 1980 interview when he hadn't spent much time in the US. He does have a distinct northern German British sounding accent though. Hands down, some very talented brothers there.
