  • Odd Places you've spotted Charvel/Jackson Guitars

The title just about sums it up. This is based on another thread where you wouldn't expect to see a Jackson guitar being used. I was making fun of Eddie Murphy and his lame attempt at a music career, and lo and behold the guy behind him is playing a Jackson. Post em if you got em....

In 2004 I visited a friend in Nashville. We went out on a Sunday evening in the burbs looking for anything going on. We ended up at an open mic/jam that was hosted by college kids in a coffee shop. The host band featured a Model 6. The kid who owned it just thought it was a neat guitar. I jammed the last song with them and showed them how a Charvel should be played. They asked if I could stay so we could keep jamming. Apparently they were dying for someone who could actually play solos. We played for about 30 more minutes before it was closing time

Oh..Eddie Murphy was the first one that came to mind.

I believe Sexual Chocolate's guitarist played a Jackson..possibly Kramer. They did an amazing cover of Whitney's "Greatest Love of All"!! Sang by Randy Watson (Murphy) who portrayed Joe the Policeman in the "What's Goin' Down" episode of That's my Momma.
"Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"
        Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!

"Well, your friend would have Bell's Palsy, which is a facial paralysis, not "Balls Pelsy" like we're joking about here." Toejam's attempt at sensitivity.

Oh yea, BTW, if you ever listened to that Eddie Murphy song with the Jackson played by Tom McDermott you'll notice there is hardly any guitar on that track at all. just a few little fills here and there.

Can't tell what model the singer is holding, but the guitar player is playing a Model 4.

In the movie "Unaccompanied Minors" they go through some unclaimed luggage. Sure enough a Kelly is found and used in a couple scenes.

Fortunately for me, it was the only part of the movie I remember.

That clean tone was pretty weak. It needed a lot of eq or something. He probably used the V where a Strat or Tele would have definitely stood out more.

Isn't that the episode where Antrax comes to visit. Haven't seen that in ages.
