Um, if you are really meaning he is "lip syncing" live, then that is a no. If anything was going on with that video, Dave sang at the concert and it might have been touched up afterwards for the broadcast or whatever.
I thought this was pretty much understood. Countless live shows put to video from band of all types have audio from the night before show or whatever dubbed in over video from another night ect ect. It's nothing new.
So if anything that would be far more likely. I doubt Dave would lipsync, nor do i think he would need to. His voice ain't that bad, but certainly never was that great. I've seen them about 11 times and even in the late 80's he mumbled sometimes live. He's fucking playing some intense shit on guitar to be singing to. And yeah his shit is still intense, even in this age of insane guitar gymnastics his shit ain't easy to nail, Let alone sing to at the same time.

When I saw the show in question when it first aired, I immediately thought it all sounded way too perfect. and I thought Dave was heavily overdubbed too. Could be they did multiple takes or the sync is off...HDMI cables often have sync and delay issues. Some of my DirecTV channels are like that. The audio isn't sync'd perfectly with the visuals.

The last few times I saw Megadeth, Dave's voice struggled on a lot of the high notes, especially in Holy Wars and Headcrusher. Just watch the Big 4 movie and you'll hear him struggle a lot.

overdubbed or not, great set list and a good performance.

Whatever you want to call it, lip sync, using the audio from another night, or whatever. He is not singing that audio on that video. That is being said with all the respect in the world for Dave and what he does.

So you're saying it was someone else singing then?

What he's saying is (I'm putting words in his mouth, but I think this is the gist of it) "Dave sang at that concert. That's definitely MegaDave's voice on the video. However, that's not the audio recording of that specific performance on that video."

You want to hear perfection live... go on Youtube and search for the ELO live concert video's from 2001. Amazing.
The problem with bands like Megadeth is they use a ton of studio magic which they simply can't pull off live.

If it sounds good and the crowd buys it.. I don't see a problem with it. Milli Vinilli got screwed. Everybody seems to do this stuff live.

No, it's definitely done by the one that's dead... he lip-syncs beyond the grave.

Like I said, you know it was a canned performance, because Yawn didn't put everyone to sleep. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure he's a great guy; however, I play his live performances to my 2 year old so he'll fall asleep easier.

By the way, Yawn isn't my term for him. That's what they've been calling him over at the Megadeth forums for years (which is a bannable offense now).
