When sweatbands and studs were the rage, was the slagging going on?

Jeff Poland is in his 50's (54, and seriously playing in his own league with Ohm - very high caliber)

hmm, can hardly wait till the day when these posts are about Loomis 'going downhill'

and btw.. all the slag posts about EVH, I think Ed is playing his best in ages in 2012.

Oh, Ed is tearing it up big time. I'd never thought I see the day. I love ADKOT..it's an amazing record. I was slaggin' Ed when he was fuggin' up. But now, I bow down to that man...I have to. He reminded me why I play guitar in the first place. I'll do the same for George, when and if that day comes..until then..fuggums.

Ohhh...that's gotta hurt. Getting your ass handed to you in your own band..

    Don Dokken.."C'mon George..C'mon you can do it. C'mon everyone..I can't hear you.."

Eh, I thought Dysfunctional was a decent album (which was still 20 years ago roughly), albeit a little "Don Dokken solo-ish with George Lynch stapled on." After that though, I agree. His playing took a dive that he never quite recovered from. I keep hoping he'll bounce back, hell Eddie did, but it seems less likely as time wears on.

Chris..'95% of the Up in Comers..smoke his ass, and then some. Some of them smoked him when he was at his prime. We just didn't know who they were.

I wanna us the word SMOKE alot in thread !!

I showed my wife this, and just just rolled her eyes. Told me I'd kill him, and all I do is sit sround and fondle my balls. She was at all the major shows with me for the last 25+ years. Steve Stevens was trying to hit on her when I went to the bathroom..that fuck! So did Greg Howe. My wife was hit on by the best! I'll keep her away from Jeff Loomis. Uli was a complete gentleman..I think he liked her tho.

I like George, but he should have stuck with the steroids or at least had a proper pct. Is it me or does he have tits?

Tits or not, he still sounds better than 9/10 of what i would probably hear at any local dive club.

Mohegan Sun? I was there. right in front on Georges side. Met him backstage (my buddy was drum tech for Scot Coogen). I thought he sounded great. No it was not like back in the day, but it was still good. They played tooth and nail and killed. Chatted with him a bit about his Randalls. He was tired. Cool dude hands down.

George, these days (hell, maybe always) is very hit-or-miss. He never cracks the ceiling that keeps him from playing like he did in his prime, but sometimes he has a really good night. I'm not hating on the guy, he's just not the same as the guy I grew up idolizing.

That being said, I still check out his new work and I look forward to his project with Mick and Jeff, if it ever comes out. ;p

It's sad, really. Loved his stuff in the day. Some people just don't know when to retire, I guess.
