Maybe it was KK sitting in?

I saw them in '84 for the Powerslave tour, which was the last great Iron Maiden album, so there was minimal sing-along, though we did anyway. Giant Eddie torso coming out the backdrop over Nicko, no Janick, before Adrian left, long before the Blaze Bailey Incident, and Bruce wore his patchwork spandex and owl feather mask.

Saw Alice on the Raise Your Fist tour - his 2nd album after the comeback (Constrictor was ok, but not as good). Awesome show as well. Kane Roberts with his Rambo guitar, and Kip Winger on bass in the shadows where he belongs

Took the wife and my 15 year old son to see them in Charlotte on June 21st. It's funny that the kid's a bigger Maiden fan than I am. Show was great, mix was great, maybe a tad too much reverb but it wasn't hard on the ears, and loud as fuck. Kid, wife and I had a great time, and cool part of going to the show is that one of Maiden's body guards brought Hunter a set of Nicko's show used drum sticks. Kid has been stoked since then and watching Flight 666 on continuous loop for the past four weeks.

New guy? If youre referring to Janick whos been in Maiden for 22 years now, the only one whos got more stage presence than him is Bruce... Janick not only puts on a damn good show and has great moves, but hes a hell of a player and has some killer solos. He doesent get the credit he deserves; hes every bit as good a player as Murray and Smith AND has stage presence like no other... a true rock star in my book.

His stage antics are annoying as hell. Maybe in another band they would be OK, but in Maiden he looks like a stage monkey.

He might be a great player, but he's nowhere near the league that A&D are in, cummon.

I've stated this on another forum, I appreciate the fact that they didn't kick him out when Adrian came back, that speaks volumes about the integrity of the band members.

I won't say anything about his playing, because I'm sure he could school me, but the whole 'I'm hitting the strings with my cable!' gets old about the third song in.

To me Janick is every bit as much a part of Maiden now as Adrian and Dave. Wouldn't want to see any of them go.

By the time Smith came back to Maiden, Gers had already been in the band over 10 years, which is LONGER than Smith had previously been in. As a matter of fact, Janick has been a member of Iron Maiden LONGER than Adrian, and Adrian isnt even a founding member. Whos the new guy again?

His antics are entertaining and his soloing is not only entertaining to watch but always damn near spot the fuck on every time Ive seen them, and I make it a point to pay attention.

My kid watches Flight 666 a hell of a lot more than I do and listens to Maiden no stop, so I normally come home to the kid watching and listening to Maiden. Let's just say I hear more Maiden now at 40 than I did when I was 16. I have to say that Gers is uninspiring when he solo's. To me it's just noodly wanky stuff. Honestly, as much as I like Adrian, I like Dave's solo's more. Yeah, Gers has been in Maiden a long time now, and the three guitar attack is cool, but I honestly can't think of one of his solo's that has hit or floored me like Dave and Adrian's do.

Adrian for me, is the better guitarist by far. And songwriter too! Dave was one of my big influences as a kid but he's pretty much played the same solo in every song for the last 15 years! Gers does have a very quick pair of hands but I wish he'd think out some of his solos a bit more. He is an entertainer though but sometimes his stage antics are a little too much. I last saw them in 2008 in Oz and they were pretty tight.

What I do wish is that Bruce could convince Steve to get Roy Z into the studio (as an engineer/song writer/guru!) to tighten up the songs. And please Steve, write lyrics for choruses! Not just sing the title of the song as the chorus!!!

Just caught them on Monday in Auburn Washington. First time seeing Maiden and I had a blast. They sounded completely killer were entertaining as hell to watch. I just wish they would have played longer!

And why did Coheed and Cambria (sp?) open the show on the West Coast dates? Who sets this shit up? I wanted to punch every trendy scene shithead there!

                                Adrian Smith – guitars, backing vocals (1980–1990, 1999–present) - 24 years (and a bit)
                                Janick Gers – guitars (1990–present) - 22 years (and a bit)

Smith is my favourite guitarist in Maiden and he played out his skin on Bruce's solo records.
Gers is my least favourite guitarist in Maiden, if he was to disappear I'm sure Maiden would miss him though. His stage antics are ridiculous though.
