I caught the opening night in Charlotte. They are definitely worth seeing. They were pretty tight. They almost trainwrecked during the opening "Moonchild" tune, but were solid after that. The sound was pretty good, although they were really cranking on the EQ during the show trying to dial it in (that venue is not really known for great sound). Bruce sounds great, he's just amazing really. There were some Eddie props, some pyro, and some projection displays going. Alice Cooper was killer too!

Cool review Axe. Is this a "retro" tour like the Powerslave one? What songs in the sets?

Looks like I'm F'ed. Indy is my best hope but I'll be working in Nashville that week.

Yeah, but this tour is a retro "Seventh Son" tour so it was heavy on that record. They threw a few other hits in the setlist as well.

Adrian had his Jackson strats out there which was cool, and also played a Les Paul.

I looked up some setlists and was bummed to not see the wicker man in it. That's my favorite Maiden tune. Also I think Utah is the first show with coheed and cambria . I'm sure it will still be a killer show!

Just saw the show last night, and let me tell you, Ive seen Maiden many times, but this was hands down, the best show ever! Fucking phenominal energy, everyones playing was top notch, Bruce's voice was on fire! Awesome set as always, background and prop changes every 2 songs or so, giant eddie as usual, fire, sparks, flashbangs... fucking EPIC! It was almost 100 degrees last night, it was fucking HOT out there, and they didnt miss a beat, they definitely worked for their money last night! If youre thinking about going, STOP thinking and get your damn tickets!

I agree with Rob. My last day in Cleveland (summer 2008), as I was moving out of the apartment and down to Nashville, I was tempted to see Maiden. I didn't have tickets, the car was loaded with my crap, and where would I spend the night? I still regret not trying to find and see that show.

Don't have regrets, go if you can.

I agree about Bruce's voice. I mean he did the occasional sing-along, but he was not ducking the high notes at all.
