  • CAUTION!! Extreme 80's Content- HYDE

Just for fun I went looking for info on HYDE because I own one of guitarist Robert Hamilton's Custom Jackson guitars. I found their album online...for free!!

Some of you might remember the guitar, because of the sheer BIZARRE-NESS!! RR0059

HYDE were a local (Pasadena, CA) band that was on the fast track to success in the mid-80's. Local Radio stations KMET and KLOS were BLOWING this song up and they were drawing BIG crowds. They imploded due to typical band drama and 3/4th's of the band later went on to form JEKYLL...but that's another story

Again, EXTREME CAUTION is recommended before listening to this tune- 'Wet Sex'....if you listen to it more than once it WILL get stuck in your head!! 1980's cheeziness to max....enjoy!!

Which one posed for the cover, the singer or guitarist?

And no, I never heard of them, nor have I ever seen that guitar. In fact, my life would probably have been better had I not even clicked the link to get in this thread

Oh Wtf!!?, I remember that album cover! Lol. What a mind fuck!
Oh Holy Crap i remember the song too, lol,... what, 30 years later. Crazy. KMET damn, the memories.
I probably have that shit on cassette recorded from metal shop back then. I recorded the show every week. I know i had or have a tape that has Kelly Rhoads (Randys brothers) band on it, they were just called Rhoads. I vaguely remember their logo as i had a sticker of it. So much stuff broke out from that station. First time i heard Wasp, Ratt, Queensryche, Kick Axe, Armored Saint, Odin, Swift Kick, ...Metallica .. pretty much any and every LA band at the time. I had a first pressing of Ratts EP i got signed by the band at Tower. I remember Bobby Blotzer wrote "Rock with the Fuckin Blotz" on it.

Oh sorry got lost there. Cool Guitar, lol.

Oh and those guys actually look tame compared to walking down the strip back then.

Yeah, they were sorta Cali-famous back then, not nearly as much as Y&T, but they were pretty much considered a ripoff band and never really taken seriously.

Should remind you a little of everything... Ratt, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, etc...

Jeckyl was pretty good and a lot more original if memory serves me correctly. Bands like this came up to the Bay Area and played all the local clubs quite often...

BTW, I'm not trying to talk them down or anything. There were a LOT of nameless glam bands back in the day... at least I vaguely remember seeing them several times. I mean, I saw Pantera 4 or 5 times before I actually liked them, but they had changed from makeup and perm fishnet glam into kinda hardcore/thrash and found a good groove.

Maybe KK got the idea from seeing the Jackson....pretty sure KK's Hamers came much later.

The Jackson above (RR0059) was ordered in late 1982 and delivered in May of 1983. It's here on this early '83 Shop List, 3rd one down, along with a couple of other notable Jacksons.

This track really brings me back to the early 80s, heh!

                            Catchy rhythm guitar there!

Kind of funny Ron, we agree! The rhythm guitar is what I like about this song....and I hear WAY more Crue than RATT in this tune.

Here's another just for the laughs....nice melody here and a great lead break. With a better singer and better production this one could have scored.

                              'Are You With Me'
