Then check out Michael Romeo. Much more talented than Yngwie, AND he can write a fucking song.

    • I disagree Yngwie song writing skills are lacking. In fact he is an excellent songwriter. Personal opinions on weather they are good songs or whatever are personal opinions only. I don't like all of his songs either, i'm just saying he has written some epic tunes. The material is within the confines of his playing style, he's been around a long time doing what he does. Eventually things get old for people. If any of his albums he is putting out today or in the last 10 years whatever, if he put it out in 1985, i think we would probably all be saying it is badass.

Trem and Axegrinder.........I think both of you may have misunderstood...........or I may have used the wrong words..........I was referring only to the last three or four albums and then I was referring more toward the lyrics than the music........In my opinion the first Five albums are great from all aspects.......but your last sentence is very correct...I love them all...I just think he hit some lower points with some albums but then would pick back up the next time....Alchemy to me is just killer heavy...reminds me of Marching Out............Facing the Animal brings back memories of Trilogy and Oddssey....Perpetual Flame and Relentless could have been great if he would have used Ripper properly...........Inspirations is a killer cover album and I like his take better than the original on most of the songs and of course Rising Force is the ultimate.........MM

          • I think Eclipse is an excellent album, never see it mentioned. The songs are very well written, very catchy, great vocals, playing and sound all around.
I also like Fire and Ice, and Perpetual is one of my favorite instrumentals, i love that song.

              • OK to Yngwinators!! what is the best..or one of Yngwie's classical cover ..great composer inspired pieces. In your opinion.

He went on record several times that he is a classical guitarist, and wished his music filed in the classical section and not in rock/heavy metal.

I have his complete body of work..but I want to know from devoted fans

                • Bill, something much worse has happened. Kenny G's cd's are often in the jazz section. When I have time I of course take them away and put them into pop section, the place where they belong. Long lecture to the workers in the record store follows...

Icarus' Dream Suite Op. 4 based on Remo Giazotto's Adagio in G Minor has always been my personal favorite.

That would be my choice as well.

Probably me as well but I do like Paraphrase...Bach inspired also.......His best would be Far Beyond the Sun, followed by Black Star and then Evil Eye IMO........FBTS AND BS are almost like a tie..........Fuck I can't really choose.....

                        • I also really love the concerto....even though it was bashed........Icarus Dream Suite Fanfare, Rampante, and Presto Vivace were killer....I love them all but these are my favs...Bill, I too bought the import version and did not wait..........I think it was 70 bucks.........I would dare to say you will be hard pressed to find a bigger Yngwie fan than myself.................MM

Yngwie's best album is Live Sentence, hands down. Everything he's done since is just mixed up versions of what he did with Alkatrazz.

i love the Rainbow cover "since you've been gone" on that album, he tears through that solo the way he should have
for the rest of his following career, gotta have some blues mixed in or it just ain't as catchy for me.

                              • I've recently fallen for this departed slinger for my blues fix. How he gets an AC 30 to sound so thick with a strat of all guitars blows me away...
