It's no secret on here that I love Warren De Martini. He's like a perfect hybrid of so many of my
favorites. I hear EVH, Jeff Beck, even a little Keith Richards in his leads, but his ability
to mix flash with taste, and also construct the catchiest fuckin' riffs that are so pleasing to my
ear, the guy can do no wrong. I can listen to Ratt tunes and block out everything but his playing
sometimes. Pearcy in the studio sounded cool, like he drank battery acid before recording but
live was always a different story. I saw them for 10.00 at the beacon Theatre in new York in '84.
they were warming up Motley Crue, and I had a new guitar hero to try and rip off, I was overjoyed.
He's a modern day Keith Richards without the narcotics.
Does anyone else harbor the same love for this guy as I do? I'd take him over 10 Yngwie's anyday.
I thought he was the whole band honestly, not to insult any of the other members of the band, or fans of Robbin Crosby,
of which there are so many, especially on here, but no Warren, and where would that band be in history today?

Same here sir. What impressed me the most was when he was just showing off it wasn't just scale runs, like you see a lot of players do. He has me as a fan for life.

I was not a Ratt fan back in the day because I couldn't get past Pearcey's voice, but I did have the gatefold poster from GFTPM of Warren and Jake with their Charvel's up on my wall.

I think he is a quality player. Funny thing is he n Lynch look similar when they play. Both fan their fingers the same way and attack the guitar same way. Interesting as no other players look like they do when playing

supposedly, when George Lynch was gonna maybe play with Ozzy, Warren went over and showed him
some of the tunes. George Lynch is fantastic, but i think the first Lynch Mob album was better than
anything Dokken ever put out. They're both slippery fingered fretboard weasels, but i think Warren
is tastier, that's all, not better or worse, but more listenable.

At their peaks, I'd have taken George over Warren. Today, Warren pounds George into the dirt. He's kept up his chops, whereas George has...I dunno dude. Sad story, that one.

i think i love the 70's the most as far as music goes, so there's alot of a pop kind of edge to
what my ears like, so I take warren over george, but that's just my ears, you taking George over Warren
S.O.P. is what you like, and that's what it's all about. I love george's playing by the way. His structure of
riffs are great too.

Oh yeah, no worries dude. I'm not getting into a "my guitarist could beat up your guitarist" argument. Warren still kicks ass, he's in my top 5 from the 80's no doubt. George and Warren both have a "within a few bars I can tell they're them" quality, which is hard to find.

I just wish George could find that spark that he lost in the 90's, not to repeat myself. Warren could still tear it up on Infestation, whereas George's stuff is alright but nothing to write home about. That's why I said if we were talking about present day, Warren beats George by a mile. It's just in the late 80's that George edges Warren out by a bit.

Both were guitarists I loved, but neither one of them was in a band I loved. Like SOP said, both had VERY identifiable sounds.

yes they were, and without thoroughly copping their styles strictly off of EVH,
not an easy thing to do back in those days.

And God bless Warren for sticking to his Soldano SLO100. When you've got a kick-ass tone, there's no reason to keep fucking with it.

here's my take, as Ratt went on, and their popularity declined, i think Warren's playing kept getting better and better.
Same with George, but i guess you get to a point where you hit your limits, and then out of natural progression, take a
different approach or change your playing, be it out of want , or what the market is dictating, or whatever, who knows?
That SLO100 sure is a doozy.

I think, while all guitarists experiment (especially 80's guitarists, who almost all of them tried a "grunge" sound with varying degrees of failure/alienation from their fanbase), George had an identity crisis. Physically, mentally, musically. And he never quite recovered. To this day he seems to go back and forth about backhanding his past like a redheaded stepchild and acknowledging the great stuff he did. It's like he's ashamed, even though most of us would trade 2012 George for 1986-1993 George in a heartbeat.

Warren, on the other hand, may have changed things up a bit but he never really forgot/had issue with who he was. And he puts up with Stephen Pearcy, who I'm honestly sure is as bad if not worse than Don Dokken.

Totally agree with Atomic Tommy. At the moment doing some work and cranking "Invasion of Your Privacy". I too found Pearcy's vox to be a bit much - but I'm able to tune him out when it comes to the music.
Mr De Martini any day over Mr. Lynch.
Last Ratt album wasn't bad. Strong starter,but then it petered out.

George's stuff in dokken was great and his Lynch Mob stuff was stellar. But everything since has been garbage. He's living off a 25 yr old reputation. Warren still plays great.
