1) Early B. Gibbons
2) D. Allman at Fillmore East
3) Early VH
4) V. Campbell in Holy Diver
I was reading this whole thread and couldn't believe that I hadn't seen Gibbons or Campbell yet (maybe I missed it...sorry). Vivians tone in Riverdogs was spectacular. Gibbons is Gibbons, I could listen to Jesus Just Left Chicago or Cheap Sunglasses every day. By the way Derek Trucks rips it up pretty good too.

Fender,Charvel and Jackson Guitars..........What more do you need
I like Zakk Wylde as a player but I think his tone and sound are way over processed. I guess that's just me. I am a guy who plugs my guitar into a wah pedal and a chorus and straight into a Marshall amp then crank it up!. I will agree with a lot of guys on here though when they say Van Halen was the first guy with a monster sound because that's where I heard it from first as well. Mind you I am NOT saying he was first. Just where I heard it first. YJM and Lynch had great tone too.
This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.
2 I also love the Scorpions tone from the 80's. Rudolph and Mattias complemented each other so well.
3 Vivian Cambell with Dio had some awesome tones as well on Holy Diver and The Last In Line.
4 Warren Demartini. I remember watching Metal Mania on VH1 classic before I would go to school; thats were I first heard Round & Round. That blew my mind!
These are really in no particular order. These are just some of my very first inspirations.
good call on the Gillis from SOTD! started reading Bills post but it was like he was trying to rewrite the bible! haha good to see some of the old faces!

Neddi..wow man. Shit, we're here at the same time..a decade+ later.
That is fuggin' biblical!

Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!
"Well, your friend would have Bell's Palsy, which is a facial paralysis, not "Balls Pelsy" like we're joking about here." Toejam's attempt at sensitivity.
Marshall 9200+JMP-1+JFX-1 'chorus/reverb' preset in stereo w/ four Marshall 1960B cabs = Brad Gillis "Speak of the Devil"
It is ginormous. It is actually my mind's version of that sound which is actually bigger than that recording.
Anyone ever have that experience? I'm sure many have emulated their version of their favorite tone that actually sounds better than the original recording. Nick with his fuggin' Axe FX clips seems to be doin' just that..da fuck! Other guys too.
I'm very happy with my sound these days. No matter what I play thru..as long as it's decent gear..it's my tone. We all need that. We all have that..I think.
But my go to ..amp tweakin tone is ALWAYS "Ain't Talkin' Bout Love" If it does that I'm good to go! That's my default tone. My wife and kid MUST be numb from that intro. It's a heavier version..I guess..no phase/delay. Just strickly tone/feel kinda vibe. Once I get that..bingo!
