anybody else dig what these guys are doing? the songs are catchy, the music is refreshingly different, though i question how it can really be considered metal other than the imagery/lyrical content. my wife likes them too. she compared it to king diamond meets brian wilson. the song "ritual" is hilarious:
"In this chapel of ritual
It smells of dead human sacrifices
From the altar bed
On this night of ritual
Invocing our master
To procreate the unholy bastard"
to have those lyrics sung with "ooooo's" and "ahhhh's" in the background makes us laugh everytime...
i downloaded the new record, Infestissumam, last night and it is awesome too. a little softer than the first - kinda reminds me of psychadelic pop, but with evil lyrics. the riffs are hooky, the organ is more pronounced this time around, and the singer sounds like he is singing more through a vocoder or another type of vocal processor. my wife picked up on some techno-esque elements as well. all-in-all it's a great record, and for the most part i like it better than the first.
it is also nice to hear more "natural" guitar sounds instead of massively hi-gain, overly saturated sounds. every instrument sounds clear and the bass guitar supplies the "meat" - which i really like. the guitar tones border on sounding like fuzz boxes, but not in that dinosaur jr or smashing pumpkins way where everything is mashed together. like i said, there is great clarity that allows everything to be heard in the mix.
