anybody else dig what these guys are doing? the songs are catchy, the music is refreshingly different, though i question how it can really be considered metal other than the imagery/lyrical content. my wife likes them too. she compared it to king diamond meets brian wilson. the song "ritual" is hilarious:

    "In this chapel of ritual
It smells of dead human sacrifices
    From the altar bed
    On this night of ritual
    Invocing our master
    To procreate the unholy bastard"

to have those lyrics sung with "ooooo's" and "ahhhh's" in the background makes us laugh everytime...

i downloaded the new record, Infestissumam, last night and it is awesome too. a little softer than the first - kinda reminds me of psychadelic pop, but with evil lyrics. the riffs are hooky, the organ is more pronounced this time around, and the singer sounds like he is singing more through a vocoder or another type of vocal processor. my wife picked up on some techno-esque elements as well. all-in-all it's a great record, and for the most part i like it better than the first.

it is also nice to hear more "natural" guitar sounds instead of massively hi-gain, overly saturated sounds. every instrument sounds clear and the bass guitar supplies the "meat" - which i really like. the guitar tones border on sounding like fuzz boxes, but not in that dinosaur jr or smashing pumpkins way where everything is mashed together. like i said, there is great clarity that allows everything to be heard in the mix.

    what are your guys' thought?

Love Ghost Mark! I saw them in Chicago last year & am going to see them in Milwaukee on May 15th. Can't wait! The new album is growing on me. I really like most of the new tunes. Not too big on the carnival sounding organs on Specular Haze. The first album is killer. One of my favorite albums of the past couple years. Check them out if they play near you. I've always wanted a Gibson RD which their guitarists play. The white one!! Must have been a custom order or something. I've been looking for one forever in that color & can never find one. Did you find a drummer yet bro??

hey jeff! I would LOVE to see them. I hope they come through here on this tour. regarding the RD, my local sam ash has one in natural, but I have never seen a white one either. looks pretty cool. ahhhh, a drummer....we have two dudes we are meeting with on Saturday. we're playing a festival at the beginning of june and our buddy, Tom, is going to cover that gig for us. he has played more shows with us as a sub than any "permanent" drummer we have ever had, lol. I wish he'd just join, but he is chasing his death metal dreams, and we are too weak for him....oh well.

            Hear the universe scream
            Bleeding from black holes
            Whom horns careless
            And whom God mourns

wow what a cool band, thanks for the heads up Mark!

half their songs are great, it's funny to have the soft harmony choruses over the crazy lyrics and those sick keyboards.

the king diamond meets the beach boys analogy is pretty on! LOL
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

i will admit, they are embarrassing to watch live, with the costumes, etc.

I have to just listen to them, not watch.

While the sounds is certainly different and one could say unique, it's not my thing.

What these guys need is a gimmick.

Well, they have their own version of a "box set" now...complete with pope dildo and Ghost BC approved butt plug - I wish I was joking...

I recently got into them. I really like that Sabbaty vibe they got going on there.
