It's still better than 99 percent of the pop music here in the U.S. And I'm suddenly thirsty for some soda.

Marty was upset that Megadeth was playing mostly to guys. He wanted to see more chicks in the audience. Since there's no place in American pop for a skilled guitarist, he moved to J-pan and got into J-pop.

Sad, really. At least Becker will die with dignity.

The guy looks happy, he's being paid a fuckton of cash for playing his guitar and as Billz said, he's idolised in Japan. In my books that's a better gig than being just another, albeit respected, metal guitarist who would mean nothing to the vast majority of listeners in the West.

There's also the endless supply of fizzy drinks, and the hot japanese chicks...

Happiness is the most important thing. He's happy to be playing generic dogshit, and I'm happy he's not doing it on a Jackson

sounds to me like he's living the life. He actually got in some shreddy licks on the video. You won't hear that in American or Brit pop. I'd say his chops are intact & he'd still lay waste to most on the JCF.

fwiw, 2 minutes of internet research confirm this was just an advertising campaign. It's not a real band, hence the former sumo champ screwing up on drums & his robot replacement in the video.

But of course, what's most important is that he isn't tainting the blessed reputation of our beloved Jackson guitars. And exposing the brand to the millions of Japanese viewers who saw the Fanta commercial
                  Hail yesterday

If anyone anywhere is influenced to play guitar from that commercial, I would not expect them to know the difference between a Jackson and a Hondo.
