+1. That's what kills him for me too. He's like Kirk Hammett is with the Crybaby when it comes to squeals. Completely over used to the point of it being campy as hell. I agree I think he shreds but the squeals ruin it for me.

Yeah, it's ridiculous. If I recall correctly, Joe Holmes, the guy who played for Ozzy in the mid/late 90s.....was rather squeal crazy as well. I believe he was a student of Randy Rhoads, but I guess having to play/learn Zakk songs turned him squeal crazy as well.

Why everybody is talking about reunion, should we talk about tribute or something like that? Like it or not, Phil, Dime, Rex and Vinnie are Pantera and if Dime was alive we could hope REUNION period.

Zakk would be the best fit IF he channels straight Dimebag and doesn't try to get creative with putting his own spin on it.

But we know Zakk will be Zakk and play and sound like Zakk because that's what people instinctively do.


And Vinnie Paul.........well if he's not on board then it shouldn't happen because the "problem to hash out" is a pretty damn big one that's pretty permanent. But if Rex and Phil are hard up enough for cash then they might just go partial Pantera and cut Vinnie Paul out. So they got VP between a rock and a hard place of making some probably desperately-needed cash by eating the shit of the guy who pushed shit to where his brother got killed, or get left behind while that guy hires someone else to do his shit.

Dude who shot Dime was a fucking psycho. That's one thing I can't stand about Vinnie. How he tries to push blame on Phil for something stupid that he "supposedly" said. How many times have any of you ever said something you regret? Think about it. I understand his brother is gone and nothing will ever bring him back but Phil has to live with what he said or didn't say for the rest of his life. They need to just squash the shit and do the right thing for Dime's sake. That asshole who shot Dime was the only person responsible for what happened. Phil didn't pull the trigger and Vinnie need to realize that otherwise he'll spend the rest of his life in misery being mad at someone his own brother would probably tell him to forgive.

I cried when my first daughter was born, I cried when my second daughter was born and before that I cried for Dime. How the f@!k can there be any reunion.

I love Zakk especially No More Tears but he should stay well away from this even if it is more than rumour.

I kinda lost it with Pantera after Far Beyond Driven but have recently discovered all the old Pantera shit from the 80's. One thing is f@!kin' obvious, Dime was a MONSTER player. I can't believe anyone would even try to fill those shoes.

Last week I came home hammered and sat down at the computer and watched an hour long guitar clinic from the 90's sometime. Awesome, absolutely freakin' awesome!!!!!

I would like to hear Dime's style with Zakk's tone but yeah I think Zakk would throw some of his own flavor in there and screw that up. Dime was kick ass but I didn't care for his tone either. Don't care for Zakk's squeals. Even though Zakk's tone is not the best I don't think its that bad. Wish I could play like either one of them. RIP Dime and Jeff.

It's not like Iommi finding a new singer and calling it Black Sabbath, it's more like Ozzy finding someone to replace himself and still calling it Ozzy.

If David Gilmour left Pink Floyd, that would be the end of Pink Floyd. You can get someone else to sing and play guitar, but it's not quite Pink Floyd. That'd be like Zeppelin going out with only JPJ on bass - new singer, not even Jason on drums, and EVH on guitar. It's not Zeppelin. It wouldn't even be Van Halen.

I agree with all of that except not liking Pantera which is evil heathen sacrilege here in Texas.


They need Vinnie's consent to really be able to call it Pantera even though it'll never really be Pantera again. But at least if they can work it out with Vinnie then at least it'll bring a sense of closure and wounds healing not only to Vinnie but Dime's fans
