  • The T-Ride Charv?

Like a lot of people round here, every now and again I like a T-Ride fix. And so, I got to Googling about the Geoff and the album and I turned up this:

There's a post in there from Steve Ouimette (don't know who he is, but he says he was involved with the recording and played some of the stuff on the album):

"BTW, that entire record was recorded using one guitar and amp. The guitar was a run-of-the-mill Charvel Strat with maple fingerboard and one pickup...a real P.A.F., not sure of the year but I believe it was a '59. The amp was a 1980 Marshall 2203, stock."

Now, in the Zombies from Hell video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MRTsCEHVoY, Geoff is playing a San Dimas type strathead, but on closer examination, it's got a single in the neck, so I guess it's not the same guitar as the one that Steve is talking about.

Anyone know anything about (or have any pictures of) either of these guitars? The tone on the T-Ride album just blows me away every time.

    Cheers,
    Ian

if you read enough of that page ---
if it took 7 years to make an album that was released in 1992, and there was only one guitar used...
the charvel in question would be pre-1986, which would make it a USA model.

from geoff "Hi Thanks for writing.

I had a cheap-o Charvel with a PAF pickup in it, a Gary Brawer, a Fender pedal steel guitar and some others... i forget. It was a long time ago

I wonder what his definition of CHEAPO is.
        It certainly wasn't a CX290.

I LOVE T-Ride and got their record the week it came out - blew me away and I was ready for something different about then. Still no one's ever come close to what they did.

Too bad they flamed out after that first record. There are 4-5 KILLER tracks from the unfinished 2nd T-Ride album available for dl here: http://www.geofftyson.com/#!t-ride-unreleased/
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives
