With Marty and Megadeath this was one of these classic cases where the band was greater than the sum of parts. And admittedly the parts going their own ways don't seem to carry much weight, despite all the big talk.

I just got done reading Mustaine's book. It was good. It also gives a ton of insight on all the member changes over the years. My Toys:

As for the Jeff Young area there are 2 sides to the truth!
Mustaine was at his worst free basing drug and paranoid making Jeff the enemy.
Also Dave loves telling stories though they might not be the 100% truth as he can't recall the details but so can few anyway.
No Jeff was mister straight, with GIT chops and a pretty boy making it hard for Dave to manage so in rehab he fired the whole band one night only to rehire. Jeff left then Dave fired Jeff over Diana calling someone to talk to (the straight guy in the band).
Also 2 songs where written for what became Rust in piece and a partnership was on the table but Dave would not agree on that.
Part 1 of Jeff's view on the times in Megadeth.
It is funny to watch the interviews from that time and pretty clear who is the straight one of Jeff and Dave.

Thanks for the those links, RR2772. Very interesting reads. There's so much contradictory information from Dave that it seems clear that he's not a reliable source.
As for the new lineup, I don't dare get excited anymore. Dave's writing's been formulaic the past few albums, IMO. Seems like there aren't any artistic ambitions there anymore...

Been such a huge Megadeth fan since growing up, then came Thirteen which was terrible, then came the atrocity known as Super Collider.
I think Mustaine lost his integrity long ago and I'm seriously not even excited about this "all star" line up. I imagine it being a mix between the above mentioned albums and some RIP style riffage just because the fans crave it and a production/vocals that are all too modern for Megadeth's sound.
Hope Dave proves me wrong though. Also, bring back the friggin' KV1 for cryin' out loud, and then the Y2KV as a limited run plz.
The Broderick sig is tricky if you ask me.
His new band probably won't be big (read Red Dragon Cartel) and so they will continue to produce it only because its a great guitar, not because its got a name like Megadeth or Iron Maiden to it.
The Jake E. Lee model only exists because of his previous fame in Ozzy, no way would they produce a sig for an artist in a band like Red Dragon Cartel. Not talking about their music, just their actual worth in promotion.
Discuss, I'm no dick.

Youthanasia is a big steaming pile of shit. I've tried and tried to get into it, but I just can't. The songs are weak.
Of the modern albums I thought UA was really good. I liked the lead playing on that. Didn't like any of the leads on the Broderick stuff.

I think the first three albums Marty did are fantastic. I actually love the sound on Countdown & Youthanasia except one thing......the out of tune Timpanis on Blood of Heroes!!!! Aaaaaaargh!
RIP is my favourite too, though. Stellar writing and playing by all.
Risk and Supercollider are on par for equal poo-ality!
