MASSIVE fan of Akercocke. I think they're by far the best extreme metal band to ever come out of Britain. Only Carcass and Xentrix even come close.
I liked the image with the suits and "dapper" thing going on, and it looks kinda ridiculous now they have bullet belts and white fucking cowboy boots but, never mind, I'm just glad they're back!
Paul Scanlan is playing Jacksons, hence this thread. But, what the fuck are they?!
I assume one is a standard DK2M he's added some stickers to, but what's the black one? A DK2 with upgraded bridge? I have to say it looks kinda cheap.
The performance here is stunning to me mostly for Jason Mendonca. His guitar playing is incredible but his vocals are amazing. From clean new-Romantic 80's style, to death metal growls, to tortured black metal screams....it's real tour-de-force. His new bald, bullet belt look sucks though. It's cool to think metal doesn't need an image, but Akercocke need the suits and long hair. Some bald cunt that looks like a smaller version of me isn't inspiring at all.
Anthrax also played this festival and Scott Ian's King V looks ridiculous on him. He needs to get one of the Minion guitars. BUT, I'm very glad to see Jon Donais finally getting into it, he really steps up here and seems to be a proper member of the band compared to how he was in the "Chile on Hell" DVD.
Joey Belladonna seems to be singing in a different key to the rest of the band in many songs (check "Breathing Lightning" for example) but never mind, he sounds good on the new record.
