Check out their label mates ARSIS ...I like them even better than Capharnaum...

Warrior turned me unto them..

[/ QUOTE ]

Arsis is from where I live right now. They gig extensively around here and I've seen them a few times. The venues they're playing around here have a been in dumpy holes in the wall with bands that don't support them too well. I've hung out with James and Mike and they're very cool guys and easy to talk too. James is a total shredder, awesome front man and too see him play live just blows me away every time.
I've even got their first demo before their LP came out.

If I could only learn to play like him......

Anyone familiar with All That Remains? Their second release is killer.

Sidenote for Carpahnaum....

Anyone who is into Canada's MARTYR will already know this (maybe...) but this is Dan Mongrain's side-project (although it sounds a LOT like Martyr) Dan only plays guitar on it, and produced it...but the vocals sound just like his!

[/ QUOTE ]

Dan didn't produce the Capharnaum album, he just came down for a session thing. Jason Suecof of Audiohammer studios wrote all the music, recorded, and produced the album, he just had guys in as session members.
Last time I spoke with JF Houle (Martyr's manager) he said that Dan MAY have been doing a small bit of touring sometime with Capharnaum, but I guess thats on hold now since Matt Heafy is touring with Trivium.

Dan is IMO the most brilliant guitarist in metal today...

[/ QUOTE ]

Ah...ok...I knew Dan was involved with the project...but not 100% sure as to what extent.
Matt Heafy's Trivium are awesome too.

[/ QUOTE ]

Trivium is another kick ass one. I saw them live not knowing who the hell they were with Iced Earth and Beyond the Embrace and bought both their albums at the show. Those kids are only around 18 yrs. old. Very fast and thrashy. Simple songs to pick out for yourself too.

I've been jammin' to lots of their stuff lately.

Here's another one I haven't heard anybody mention.

The Duskfall. Very much like Dark Traniquility but with more balls. Really reminds me of Hypocrisy at times too. Final Chapter.

The frontman has a very simple setup too. He told me he uses, and I've seen him live. Rocktron Voodoo valve, Some sort of EQ, Ibanez RG, EMG's, 85 in bridge.

Enforsaken ..the "forever endevour" ...awesome ...I think it kicks the crap out of the likes of Shadows fall myself..even though they are a good band.

and anyone who don't have the new Carnal Forge "are you dead yet" needs to do so immediatly!

Not bad, it's worth getting. It doesn't sound really extraordinary to me, but it's good back to basics metal.

I just bought it.

The url for the sounds I post from The Duskfall have changed. Here's the page with even more samples.

Great metal here.
