• Zakk's Rhoads on Ozzfest 2004

Went to Ozzfest yesterday in Hartford, the 1st date of the tour. Zakk's BLS opened up the mainstage and he brought out the Rhoads that was on the cover of GW for 2 songs. He also played a sweet Gold LP with the bullseye on it which was sweet!

BTW, the rest of the mainstage bands sounded great, and Ozzy was in pretty good form...way better than last year when he displayed alot of tremors. Sabbath kicked major ass! Go see the show if you can!

I am going next sunday, i am really into the group Atreyu. Not only are there songs good, but they are pretty cool to hang with, the one guitarist is so into 80's metal, alot of times on stage he will just wear tshirts from bands from that era. I am also looking forward to seeing priest, i have not seen them since 1984/85 and from what i understand they mostly play older stuff on there set these days. Ozzfest should be kick ass this year, hell it is kickass every year!

yeah, daniel jacobs is a great player in my opinion. hell, a lot of metalcore (however, you wanna classify them) groups from the O.C. are kickin' ass.

Priest stold the show in Hartford IMHO. Tipton is amazing.

I see i am not the only atreyu fan here, how do you all like the new album? I had downloaded it about a month before it came out, but i still went and bought a copy just to support the band. I think it is pretty amazing, both new and old albums.

Well, the only band I caught on the 2nd stage was Slipknot (the last band) who sounded great. I wanted to see a bunch of others including Lamb of God, but couldn't get down to the show earlier due to other commitments. I swear the start times for all the bands were all moved up by more than a few minutes, including the main stagers. I thought for sure we'd get there in time for Lamb of God. At any rate, I'm glad I went to the Sat show even if it doubled the commute time. If I went to the closer show near Boston tonight, I wouldn't have made it until Priest hit the stage!

BTW, if anyone plans on spending any length of time watching the 2nd stage acts, do yourself a favor and bring some sunscreen! Yikes!, I saw more beet red skin than I'd ever want to see!

When I get more time, I'll tell my Phil Anselmo and Tom Araya stories. Anyone else who attended that show notice Phil "losing it" on the 2nd to last song?

I haven't picked up the new album yet, but I did see their new video on Headbanger's Ball, and I was impressed-I thought it was cool how Dan was playing the LTD George Lynch bengal too. Hopefully the production on the new album will be better than the last one, as I thought that was the weakest thing about it.

By the way, all you guys checking out the second stage better check out Bleeding Through! They kick major ass, and while I'm guessing they're probably not as good with a barrier and the separation from the crowd, they're still awesome and are very humble and polite if you talk to them too.

the production is alot better and they do alot more 80's style on here mixed with the new but it is still heavy as hell. The drummer is doing alot more singing as well. Great album.
