Re: Vivian Campbells Charvels during Dio
back then, they would have been. Some folks round here have a few really good shots of them. And someone had a guitar painted up like Viv's red-check-&-skulls one (can't remember what the graphic is called) a while back.Hail yesterday

who do you guys think was Dio's best guitarist? I love viv's work back in those days, i love the solo in last in line.

Though I do like Rowan Robertson's stuff and I respect Craig Goldy's playing, I would say that Viv and Doug Aldrich are one-two in my opinion. I think Doug injected a lot of life into "Killing the Dragon."Takeoffs are optional but landings are mandatory.

Re: Vivian Campbells Charvels during Dio
I have to agree about Blackmore.
Viv was cool, but Richie was the innovator back then.
I love the way he did backgrounds by complimenting the bassline and using the keys to fill in the empty space.Build a man a fire and he's warm for a day, set a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life.

I'd vote for Blackmore even though thats a whole different band. But for Dio definately Vivian Campbell, once he was replaced it lost the magic.
Does Vivian Campbell still have those guitars or did he sell them off?
Here is the guitar he was using for the Hungry For Heaven video.
