Re: ZAKK THROWS GIBSON LP GOLTOP BULLSEYE INTO CRO
I thought Priest was great, but Sabbath won the day in my opinion. They all (including Ozzy) seemed a lot sharper than in 1999 on the Reunion tour when I last saw them. Iommi was on fire--he took the longest solo break in the song "Black Sabbath" that I've ever heard him do. He was absolutely shredding and dead on.
But yeah, Priest definitely delivered--I can't wait to see them do a full set with a new album to promote. Their impact at Ozzfest was a little bit blunted for me because I was back in the lawn section, and the video screens weren't turned on yet during Priest since it was still daylight for most of their set. I could only barely see what was going on down on the stage. I'll spring for better seats next time I see them.
Up in the lawn section, I would say that Slayer was probably the best-received act. The lawn was full of guys that looked like they broke out of juvenile detention to see the show--and Slayer was definitely what they were there to see!
