...and Dave won't let him play Jacksons!!! Taken from an interview:
And of course Drover was over-the-top with Mustaine's decision, but had two questions.
"He was really excited. Then he goes, 'How do you feel about me playing Jacksons?' And I said, 'How do you feel about playing ESPs?' And called up ESP and said 'Give this guy some guitars.' And now he's got ESPs. And he says, 'Well, I've got these type of amps' and I said 'OK, we'll get some Marshalls.'"
And to set up Drover comfortably equipment-wise, Mustaine says that "It's a desire to have him be happy with me, so that when we're on stage playing together, he's going to have fun and that will translate to the audience. And also, so that this last go around, I've brought in guys (including returning drummer Nick Menza and a soon-to-be-named bassist) that are going to give it their all, so that there will be a fitting funeral and this will be more like a wake. I'm gonna go on my own after this. I need to do that. There's just too much legal stuff going on. Chris Poland's manager and attorney are going after me now. That was whacked. The whole process of having him in the studio (the original Megadeth guitarist put down most of the leads on System...), now has a black mark on it. And the thing with Ellefson - I can't tell you how many people have called me up saying, 'We're praying for you Dave, we're supporting you Dave. We always thought he was the nice guy.' I'm still very grateful for what he did for my career. I don't want to hurt him. But the truth is going to come out to."
