I think Dave knows his role in the band ...He's Megadeth ...he writes all the material ..Music , lyrics and hires the best he could find to carry his vision the best he could...kinda like Ozzy..
Loomis was supposed to get the gig before Marty did...but his looks were a issue with Dave ...due to that Jeff looked like a "kid" at the time..
Did anyone see the Nevermore video they played on HBB last night ....now that's shreddin!!!!!

...and Yngwie...You are absolutely right though. Some people just have a vision in their mind of what they want, and that is Mustaine. If He feels that someone isn't going to live up to that, then he'll find someone else. That's not being an ****, thats just how it is with him. I don't think he's much different than say, Chuck Schuldiner of Death in that respect.
As a business owner, I can relate to surrounding myself with the best talent available. However, I don't use them as scapegoats when I make poor business decisions. A perfect example is the recording of RISK and the departure of Marty.
dave is so full of himself... i read his article in guitar world and the guy is a piece of work. no doubt he can play, but his fans should tell him how good he is. not the other way around.
Guitars... Rhoads RX10D Amp... Pioneer Effects... Boss ME-20
I have tremendous respect for Dave as a player, but I just don't get his sense of failure of himself as a musician. I mean there are tons of guitarist who would kill to be in his position. The constant comparisons that he made between Megadeth and Metallica is actually pretty sad. It seems to me the only thing that would make him happy is to be in Metallica again. Don't think that will ever happen, but that would be pretty cool come to think about it. Imagine the triple guitar assault of Dave, James, and Kirk. That would fuggin' rule! I've always been a huge Megadeth and Metallica fan, but the last few albums from both have been dissapointments. Maybe if Dave were in Metallica again it would get them both on the right track again. Yeah, Yeah I know it's just wishful thinking, but I can dream can't I?

Crap, just get rid of Kirk all together. He stopped playing good solos after Puppets. I like AJFA but his solos were dismal and after that just plain sucked!
Oh yeah...you should probably get rid of Larse too since there are way too many drummers that could do so much better.

Mustaine has this persistent ability to blame everything on everyone else but himself.
If Chris Poland didn't even want to rejoin Megadeth and his lawyers/manager are STILL going after Dave, one can only assume that Chris believes he didn't get paid what he was owed for the studio work.
Y'know, it just shouldn't be that complicated to get four musicians together in a room to play the goddamn music, should it? I think you always have to parse Dave's statements very carefully.

Ain't out to knock Dave or how he lives cause I don't care what anyone does or has done cause I am no one to talk.
But that attitude goes hand in hand with being a Junkie and it doesn't go away with a year or two clean. Cause in order to be a Junkie you don't give a **** about anyone but yourself; everyone else that has to deal with you gets the short end of the stick. Junkies are the biggest winers there are, oh poor me.. look what so and so did....screw it I will just get high. Dave has been conning himself for a long time and still believe others believe him.
I don't know anything about all this stuff and there is always two sides of the story-but sometimes you have to make a compromise, if he would rather pay a lawyer than pay guys he worked with so be it. Chances are if he picked up the phone and called these guys it could easily be worked out. Just from what I know, you would have to push a guy that would put up with your constant drug abuse for years and not rob you blind pretty far to file a lawsuit against. Nobody sober puts up with a Needle Freak in your life unless you care about them; especially when you trying to keep yourself clean.
I agree Mustaine is talented and saw him live and was impressed-but I think his ego and selfishness is coming to haunt him. You think drugs rent a lot of headspace, lawsuits eat your life.
Really who is it here? A guy that leaves nothing but broken friendships and business relationships in his wake or others.According to Dave it is everyone else.
Yeah I aggree with everything said about Mustaine ...he's a weird bird and that's coming from a weird bird..
I wish he would have pursued Jason Newstead for a bassist ...that would have been funny I think...oh well that was wishful thinking on my part..

You should go see Some Kind of Monster. Dave actually is nothing but a failure in his own mind, always has been, since he was kicked out of Metallica. He blames himself for everything.

Sorry, but that little movie highlight shows the tip of the iceberg. Mustaine's blamed Marty, Jeff, Chris, Lars, James, Al, Junior, his management, Bud Prager, Jimmy's girlfriend, Dan Huff, Jackson Guitars, Peter, Paul, and Mary, and the list could go on and on and on. His pitiful little quips in the movie were designed for you to feel sorry for him. It's hard to feel sorry for a guy that's had that kind of success.

Really? I don't really know much about Dave Mustaine personally or anything like that. Only a few interviews in mags and occasionally on TV.
What does he blame everyone for? IMHO he's quite a successful musican.
Check my Jackson themed Myspace page, hear some good metal, and check out a little shred fest by me.
I think Glen will be a great addition to Megadeth.
Ok just to let you know I'm a BIG time Megadeth Droogie.
I also think Dave is a very smart guy that is very selfish about his music. He's got every right to be.
Chris was offered the chance to stay with Megadeth and he declined due to his work with Ohm. As far as the situation with Jr. it really sounds pretty selfish on Jr.'s part. Dave offered him over $100,000 a year JUST to play bass and Jr. wanted all these publishing rights and royalties for material that Dave wrote! Who's being selfish?
I'm not sure how Megadeth has done financially over the years, but I'd imagine that between the new reissues, continued sales of the back catalog and even a little bit of sales on the newer albums, Mustaine is probably pretty comfortable in terms of royalty checks. The KIMB reissue seemed to do pretty well, and I'm sure Dave at least made courtesy calls to Ellefson about the other reissues. So, while I tend to give Junior the "hometown boy" benefit of the doubt, it may be that he saw the potential for some big paydays if he signed back on at the right time. However, it matters very little to me. I mean, Junior is one of my favorite metal bassists, and inspired me when I first started playing, but his sound is not what "sold" me on Megadeth. It was Dave's guitar and voice.
As far as the business aspect is concerned, I think Mustaine has a solid plan, just as Chuck Schuldiner did. Surround yourself with people who are talented and who you can work with. If either the talent or attitude starts to wane, start fresh. I call my band MY band because I wrote all the material, got together the best lineup I could, taught the other guys what needed teaching, and spend my money promoting the band and paying most of the expenses. Not sure how it works in the Megadeth world, but I imagine certain things work better at that level with someone clearly in charge.
