Dimmu Borgir?

Anyone heard these guys?

I just picked up their latest album and OMFG, these guys rock. I think they play Jackson's too but I don't see them on the endorsed list. *shrug*

They sound a lot like Carcas...man I miss carcass...

Actually, I don't think they sound anything like Carcass (but hey, to each his own), but none the less they are a very cool band. If you look in Guitar World's ads for Jackson guitars one of the guitarists (forgot which) is featured as a player of Jacksons. Their older albums such as Stormblast are awsome too. Be sure and pick that oe up especially.

And Carcass F'n rules. Did ya hear Arch Enemy's version of Incarnated Solvent Abuse? Freakin awsome. Enforsaken also did a great cover of that song, I think a little bit better

Dimmu's okay. They had more musical fire back in the day. Stormblast and For All Tid are great, even though they're pretty mellow and soft sounding.

Carcass is not "Black" metal they are "death" metal ...but I'll forgive you....this time.

Nick Barker who was thier drummer and also ex- COF's drummer is one of the best drummers on the planet!

BTW the last Dimmu album is actually their weakest IMO..if you like this album ...then you'll love their older material..

I think you mistook what I ment as soulless. Aside from the dress, they are about as black metal as Whitesnake.

I like For All Tid, Stormblast, and Enthrone Darkness Triumphant the most.

Also, if you like Borgir get a hold of Nexus Polaris by Covenant it has some old members of Borgir.

I'm not a black metal fan, but I gotta say that Dimmu was a big surprise to me at Ozzfest.
The show really started picking up when they came on, and I found myself really getting into it, even though pasty white dudes in an outdoor fest is kinda funny.
Also, the keyboard guy with a tophat kinda freaked me out.
Definitely an excellent band tho.

Good Call on Covenant Rattle!!! ..I like that album ..very good playing on that....also got the band "Kovenant" ..not the same stuff.

Right now I'm listeming to Thy Serpant's "Christ crusher" ...a very melodic black metal band that Alexi Laiho was in for a short period ..he's was also in Impaled Nazerine .. he's on their "Nihil" ....I ordered it.

My Favorite Dimmu for some reason is Purtanical Euphoric Misanthropia ..That album crushes all the way thru with the production of Death Cult but much more leaner and meaner..and best of all Nick Barker is the man , he just kicks it in the ass!!

I met , hung with Barker and had two beers with that dude , super cool dude!!...my 9 year old son Vinny worships him ...yeah , he's a drummer so Nick gave me sticks and some cool stuff to give him [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

All the ones that Rattle mentioned are great..

I have..For all Tid / Spiritual black dimensions / Godless Savage Garden / Stormblast / Mourning Place-Spellbound / P.E.M. and D.C.A...I think that's all of 'em..

and if you like Death Cult Armageddon ...I know you'll like Old Man's Child's latest "In Defiance of existance" on Century Media..It's Galder and Nick..very very cool!
