Re: Dimmu Borgir?

OMC is a little too industrial for my tastes.

Even the early stuff Ron ..."Born of the flickering" is pretty straight black metal..I like 'em

Em ..I was being a "smartass" ...St. Peter insisted to be crucified upside-down...he felt he wasn't worthy to die like the lord.

The Vatican is centered on St. Peter's resting place (just like the book says) and has a inverted crucifix marking his "tomb"...

the same symbol that will mark mine....or urn I guess.

      what pleasant thoughts...

                  Re: Dimmu Borgir?

Heh, I remember back when I cared whether or not a guitar had 24 frets. Then I realized, I almost never play up that high, and anything I did wasn't that significant.

I still have to check out Old Man's Child. Where should I start, Bill? Old stuff? New stuff? Any stuff?

                    Re: Dimmu Borgir?

Wow Ning ..that's a hard one they all sound a bit different but the same y'know..

Well I really really like thier last In Defiance of Existence ...I like it much better than Dimmu's death cult.

Nick Barker and Galder absolutely smoke on this album ...and it's very addicting ...very layered , moody , atmospheric , great production...not too sterile or industrial like Ron feels ...I think the most industrial feeling album ..although the music is far from industrial , would be the one with Gene Hoglan on drums "Ill Natured Spirit Invasion"...he makes everything sound "mechanical" ...like SYL.

But my exposure to the band was when "The pagan Prosperity" came out ...a great black metal album indeed!

If you dig traditional black metal ..Darkthrone , Immortal , older Dimmu and such "The Pagan Prosperity" and "Born of the Flickering" is very cool.

If you like it a bit more polished like latter day Emperor and Puritanical era Dimmu and Cradle ...get In Defiance Of Existance..I think's it's amazing.

"Revelation 666" is my least fave for some reason ...not a bad album ...just my least favorite OMC.

Bill, no lighting in my RR1 USA, just wiked black. It's my baby, the only guitar I own, The very one I desired since I began playing at the early nineties, mine since 02/2004 . It hurts if I don't play her daily.

                        ..I hear ya dude ...

but my main "baby" is my Koa San Dimas ...bought it new in 95.

it doesn't have paint on it ...so I can't scratch the paint .....so it became my main player..

                        it's my right arm now..

I love my RR1....it's just POPS ..."METAL"!!!

Aye, I would never play guitar while wearing all that stuff. I'd be too afraid of stabbing my guitar, puncturing me waist when going to the high frets, or accidentaly impaling a stupid stage rusher.

I would like to wear that stuff for fun, though. Looks like fun being all decked out in black leather and sharp metal.
