he's a very good player but I really hate his tone.. the old vid "speed kills" or something like that was much better imo

He's doing a clinic in a couple of weeks back in my home town in central Illinois. I'll be there. Perhaps I can snap a couple of pics.

Yeah, Michael is a freak. Too bad No Boundries is pretty much the high water mark for his songwritting abilities. Technically he's amazing though, I would love to see him in a setting where he was not the main composer.

OMG! If you guys weren't backing him up I'd say it was video tricks. My jaw hit the floor. Damn that was cool.

I'll bet that quad neck is heavy as hell, changing strings would be expensive and take a long time too.

Just tuning that beast would be a PITA.
Check my Jackson themed Myspace page, hear some good metal, and check out a little shred fest by me.

That looked like an advertisement for Dean guitars.

He must be good; I never even saw him change guitars!

Well, I guess that makes sense after all since it's hosted on their site.

Sorry to bother with off-topic, but what's that first guitar with purple/red finish and Jackson-alike pointy head? It starts on D I think ... Thanks.

Re: Entertaining Michael Angelo Batio Video

Okay, seriously, nobody else thinks the passage between 2:04 and 2:14 is sped up? Granted, I haven't seen him live, so maybe those of you who have seen him can vouch that he can actually do that over-under thing THAT FAST. It just looks so sped up. Look at his head and his leg... unnatural movements/twitches indicate speeding the film up, not to mention how insanely fast/blurry his hands are moving. The "Speed Kills" video clip is even more pronounced... anybody got a link of that?

Strangely enough, the over-under passage between 3:07 and 3:48 looks a LOT more natural. Weird.

I still love his videos regardless... just those over-under parts look a bit funny from a video perspective.

Champaign/Urbana - University of Illinous campus town. It's at Corson Music, I believe the one in Urbana on the corner of Main and Race. I lived two blocks away from there for a year. I've got a midterm the next day do I'm having my wife drive so I can study in the car.

All the guitars in that video are Deans, because of his endorsement deal. That one is a Custom 450, which is sort of an arch-top soloist knock-off, but everyone I've heard who's played one said they were great.

NOTP I have seen him live at a guitar clinic before, That is all him. The guy is not human on guitar. At the clinic I saw him in he would talk to the crowd & do some mindless wanking in between with the volume off & it was amazing to watch. What was funny was he broke a string & laughed & just comented, see nobody is perfect switched guitars & kept going he seemed really down to earth .

I roadied a Nitro show here in St. Louis in 1988. That Mutha-Fer is as fast live as he is on the video. They were billed as "The fastest, highest and the loudest band in the world". We had to carry their gear down (2) flights of stairs in the club. The friggin PA cabinets were insanely heavy. The kick drum would give you blurred vision every time it would hit. He, Jim Gillette, and TJ Racer were really cool and down to earth dudes. Can't remember the drummer's name.
