      Hell Megadeth never had better members in this band as they do now...this should be UberMegadeth!!!!

      Well Marty was cool as hell..

      I'm not going because it's friggin' 40 bucks for a small ass crappy venue in Cleveland...but I still may go!!

      Besides Dave Mustaine all other members are totally replaceable...Dave IS MEGADETH!!!

      with the Drover bros ...hell you can't go wrong ...

        No, not really. I totally agree with Bill. Dave Mustaine is Megadeth, and he only gets top-notch players in his band.

          yeah he always surrounds himself with the great players..

          There is a lot of revolving doors in a lot of bands..it's amazing that line up lasted as long as it did.

          I think he never quit just to stick it in Meatallicka's pooper if you ask me.

            How well known was Chris Poland when he signed on? Maybe not a great example, because it was the very first MD incarnation.

            How about Jeff Young?

            Or Marty Friedman, for that matter? The couple of hundred folks that kept up to date on the Shrapnel Records production line would've been familiar with Cacophony. Guitar mag readers might have caught the names of the long haired pair in the cages in the Carvin ads between reading articles on Eric Clapton & Lee Ritenour. But other than that, how many average metal fans had ANY idea who the hell this Marty Friedman guy was BEFORE he joined the Megadave roadshow?

            Al Pitrelli was better known, having played with Alice Cooper & Savatage, but half the Megadeth fans around here spent more time complaining about how Al fucks up every band he joins.

              Dave has stated several times that this album was only released to rid him of his obligation to the record company. It's not surprising he doesn't want the former members of the band touring with him given the problems that exhist between them. I can't imagine spending weeks on tour with guys I didn't get along with. That would freaking suck. As far as who is to blame, I don't care a rats ass, the end result is the same. I do know that I have always dug Megadeth and will continue to enjoy their albums. Dave isn't the only doubletalking metal hero out there. I dig Van Halen too, but don't get my panties in a bind about Eddie's ego problems with his singers. The end result is all that matters.

                Dave has also stated that he was the one that pursued Nick, asking him to rejoin the band (provided he could stay clean and sober). Dave is also the one that's stated on numerous occasions that Nick still has the ability and would rather see him utilize his drumming skills than driving a bulldozer.

                It will be interesting to hear the details of the release of Nick. Then we can decide if it was Mustaine's poor judgment in rehiring Nick or if it was Nick's poor judgment thinking he could work for "The General."

                  I think Dave said that IF Nick still had his abilities that it would be great to have him back. That's what an excerpt posted on the Metal Sludge boards said when he announced Nick's hiring. Now if Nick told him he was up to snuff and he wasn't, that could cause the firing. Shawn Drover is certainly qualified for the gig and probably comes much cheaper too. On the other hand, maybe it's a drug thing. If Nick's getting high Dave may not want the temptation around him.

                    [/ QUOTE ]Mcdonough was in Iced Earth and the Drovers are in Eidolon, both signed bands with loyal followings. Drover has also played for King Diamond, a guy with a bit biggerfollowing. I'd rather see Drover than Pitrelli on guitar, and I think he holds his own with Marty too. Shawn Drover kicks Menza's ass on Menza's best day. Megadeth has always been Dave and some kickass SIDEMEN, great players that were there to do as told. None of these guys are from bar bands that never made a record. They all have respectable backgrounds and if you're unaware of them it says more about your ignorance of current metal than about their lack of fame.

                      Jeff Loomis was a Megadeth runner up as well....he didn't get it because he looked like a kid 15 years ago..

                      Now if Mustaine knew about Jeff Loomis that long ago ...he has his finger on the pulse at all times.

                        Nothing but Drummers , bassists and drummers ...a dime a dozen.

                        Some of us here could fill those shoes with no problem.

                              You've mentioned this a few times now Bill. But just as I'm happy Dave was kicked out of Metallica (to go onto to form the much better Megadeth, IMHO), if Loomis had been picked up my Mustaine, there'd be no Nevermore. So maybe it was fortuitous that Jeff missed out. Maybe not for his bank balance, [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img] but better for us.
