Jackson should go after him...
DAMAGEPLAN's DIMEBAG DARRELL Parts Ways With WASHBURN GUITARS - Oct. 26, 2004

After a successful 10-year partnership, Washburn Guitars and Randall Amplifiers are parting ways with DAMAGEPLAN/ex-PANTERA guitarist Dimebag Darrell.

U.S. Music Corp. is shifting its focus toward new product development that will appeal to a wider variety of musicians. "We've had a great working relationship with Dimebag over the past 10 years," said Rudy Schlacher, President and Owner of U.S. Music Corp., whose brands include Washburn and Randall. "Dimebag has established his unique guitar shape and headstock as his own which cannot be associated with any one guitar brand."

With the recent acquisition of Parker Guitars, U.S. Music Corp. is investing significant resources toward manufacturing Parker Guitars and applying these new methods to Washburn's entire USA product line.

"Dime has established a consistent, definable tone that makes his singular style instantly recognizable to his legions of fans. Randall is continuing its product development strategy of providing flexible high gain tube and solid state amplification." Mr. Schlacher continues. "We are finding the variety of recently developed products appeal to everyone from the heavy metal guitarist to pop rock artists."

"We are extremely proud of our partnership with Dimebag Darrell; he has established himself as the premier guitarist of our generation. He is focused on developing a variety of new Dimebag products to be made available to his legions of fans around the world. We wish him nothing but the best for the future," said Mr. Schlacher.

Washburn Guitars, Randall Amplifiers and Parker Guitars are divisions of U.S. Music Corporation, located just outside Chicago in Mundelein, Illinois.

Washburn is really going to notice the drop in sales I think. Who do they have now? The Shadows Fall dude? Look for Dimebag on the ESP site soon I bet.

He's back with Dean and playing through Krank amps now. Good movie for Dean although I don't like his playing.

Great month for Dean though, first Schenker now Dime.

I dunno about that sales drop. The guys I know that work at Washburn dealers say that they can't GIVE Dime guitars away.

Hmmm... Krank amps are the worst pieces of poo I've had the misfortune to play through.

The Washburn Dime guitars seem to appeal to a relatively small number of people, mostly Dimebag fans.

The Dime model guitars looked like cartoon versions of Deans. If they made a nice looking one in some nice finishes, they would have done alot better.

Diamond Darrel (not a typo) will play anything. Look at the CFH era when he was playing Dean, ESP, and Jackson ML style guitars.

He also had a blue Hamer ML copy with reverse headstock, offset dot inlays and a boomerang at the 12th fret.

His guitars werent selling, and he was kind of an embarrassment as a spokesperson....spokesdude? He will end up with Dean. Actually looking at Deans site listing Randy Rhoads and Ben Orr as Dean artists, when they are dead, and never endorsed them, it seems even if he goes to ESP, they will list him as a Dean Artist...........

Jackson should've snatched him up. After Zakk, he probably has the highest level of name recognition of the modern metal soloists.

Re: Dimebag dropped by Washburn

I think Jackson should list Dave Mustaine as an artist on their page. That would sell more guitars than if they had Dime. If Dean can list Rhoads and Orr, why cant Jackson list Mustaine, and any other players they dont actually have?................

Just my opinion, but no great loss: his time has gone and he seems to be an embarrassment whenever he speaks in public...

Nah, that's long-time Dean-endorser Randy "Rhoades" of a different band, called Ozzy "Ozbourne."

Any similarity to the perhaps better known Randy Rhoads or Ozzy Osbourne is purely coincidental, as I'm sure the fine folks at Dean will tell you!
