• Vinnie Moore

I listen to a lot of 80's music, but I was born in the early eighties so... I'd never heard of this guy Vinnie Moore before...his name came up along with Paul Gilbert as I was reading about Yngwie over at Wikipedia

downloaded a couple of early albums, only heard a couple of songs off his 1987 debut Mind's Eye, but it's totally awesome!! It has much better production than Yngwie's albums from the same era...his style sounds a lot like Paul Gilbert but yet it's different..wow he's got a really nice blend of technique and taste that I had thought PG was alone in having. Anyway...had to share this, I know many of you older fellas already knew all about this, but us youngins' gotta pay attention in history class

yeah...he came around about the same time as Tony McAlpine (who also is great) I kinda got out of that vein as it seemed like everyone and their brother was doing neo-classical instrumental albums. The first 2 Vinnie Moore lp's are really cool though.

MInds Eye is a good one , so is The Maze, it's funny his later stuff "Out of Nowhere" is really bluesy compared to his early stuff. Shows his versatility. I like the Vin Man good stuff

"Time Odyssey" is also spectacular. Moore is one of my favorite for sure.

Time Odyssey for me, it's the best Vinnie album. I'm looking for an Ibanez VM1...

                Re: Vinnie Moore

Time Odyssey and Minds Eye are great 80's shred albums. I liked Vinny more than any of the others (McAlpine,Gilbert, Becker/Friedman, I thought his songs had a nic er flow and composition to them. I wanna get the new UFO album, I have heard one track that sounded pretty good, definitely a different sounding Vinnie Moore on that track.

Vinnie plays very tasty solos. I like him a lot. His ballad "Rain" is one of my all time favourite guitar tracks.

As an Al DiMeola fan, Vinnie was always #1 for me in the neo-classical field. He still rules, and The Maze is awesome.

Yeah, Vinnie is awesome. Rune, you were only a couple years old when these guys (Yngwie, Gilbert, Moore, etc.) came out but I was in high school and learning guitar. It was both motivating and frustrating at the same time.

Vinnie is amazing, one of my favorites. If you don't have the new UFO album go get it now! On it a lot of the riffs and solos are lifted right off of his Meltdown album, it's weird and cool hearing those songs with vocals behind it.

Yea Saw Vinnie on Meltdown tour. Hung out after the show and met everyone. Wasn't even like a meet in greet he just hung out and anyone that wanted to come up and shoot the **** good. Cool guy and was flawless during the show. I have every Vinnie except Defying Gravity- which is great too.

Defying Gravity is cool. Too much acoustic stuff for my tastes but it's still a great album. It's worth getting just for that solo on the title track.
