Someone on metal-archives.com posted these mp3s. They're a couple tunes from Graveland's upcoming 2005 release. No vocals on these tracks, I assume they still have to be added. Everything on these tracks was performed by one guy, Rob Darken himself. I especially like the drum patterns.

I've been checking this band out a lot lately, downloading ever mp3 I can find. I'm gonna buy some of the actual albums pretty quick here.

I really like Carpathian Wolves, and Celtic Winter but not much else. Plus, I'm not really down with the NSBM movement. Keep rascism out of metal.

Agreed on the National Socialism thing. That simply isn't my thing. However, Rob Darken has to be the most professional, respectable National Socialist in Metal I've ever heard of.

I have a real problem with Black Metal when it comes to this crap. There's a LOT of racism and political crap in Black Metal. Very few respectable individuals in the genre. The only Black Metal musician I think I'd ever wanna meet and hang out with is S.M. of Trollskogen. Maybe Fenriz if he's in one of his good, humorous moods.

Fenriz is hilarious in all of his interviews.

You seem like a pretty big black metal fan, are you a fan of the newer stuff coming out of America?
Leviathan, Weakling, Judas Iscariot, Xasthur etc.. ?

Leviathan is the ****. The Tenth Sub Level of Suicide is one of my favorite CDs. The others I haven't checked out, but plan to eventually. Unfortunetely my Black Metal collection is very small, and probably will be for quite some time due to money issues.

You should really look into Leviathans new CD. Tentacles of Whorror. It is far better than TSLoS.

Hey out of curiousity, how old are you?

I've heard a couple tunes off Tentacles of Whorror, and it sounds great! I'll be ordering it pretty quick here.

Re: Graveland

Happy to see that you arn't 12. Plus it is nice to meet someone my same age with the same musical tastes. This type of black metal goes mostly unappreciated here on the JCF, despite that most of these bands play Jacksons.

Now I just got to get back to my own band Nattig. I'm working on the one man black metal band thing. Everything is written and ready to go, but recording is killing me, especially since I am programming all the drums.

Re: Graveland

Yeah, same here. Drum programming is a bitch. Generally when you're recording a song, the first thing you should record is the main parts, the part that really carries the song. In your and my cases that would be the guitar. But, if you're programming a drum machine, that HAS to go down first. Very annoying. But I'm good with drum machines, so I'll keep at it.

Yes, Black Metal for the most part seems very under appreciated here, and it makes sense why. But it's all cool, the_drip, horns666, racerx, and a few others like Black Metal more or less, so we're not alone.

At blackmetalforums.com there are a lot of young kids who are into Black Metal, ages 11 to 16 or so. I just hope that they don't get so connected to this kinda music that they aren't able to separate the music from the ideologies as they age. As much as I love that music, I don't think I'd ever wanna meet guys like Wrest, Gaahl, Akhenaten, etc.

Re: Graveland

I agree with the drum machine part. I'm doing my own personal best to find a suitable drummer so I can enter the studio with them.

I realize that a few like black metal here, but it really is more of the Dimmu Borgir style black metal, which to me isn't black metal at all. I've discussed it with the_drip and horns before back on the old board.

And yes, blackmetalforums.com is a confused place. Kids turn 12, have Avatars of Varg Vikerns and preach his NS beliefs, and try to buy into the Scandinavian life style. It is quite funny how much black metal is doing for the propagation and preservation of Scandinavian tradition. I'm Swedish by decent, and have worn a Mjolnir around my neck for years, and have always looked for people who I can talk about Mythology and Norse Culture with. Oddly enough, many of the people I have been able to do so with are Americans of mixed decent, with no direct connection to Scandinavia. So more power to black metal in that regard.

And by the way, I you would ever be interested in collaborating on a project, I specialize in doing vocals and have protools. I'd love to hear some of the stuff you are doing.

Sure, will keep the collaboration idea in mind. I'll try to get some stuff together that you can hear. I'm still using a 4-track cassette recorder, so my output is slow. Eventually I'm gonna get a computer and all that jazz.

What is a Mjolnir?

Wasn't Mjolnir the name of Thorr's hammer? Anyways, Nazis are fuckin lame, and anyone who I see sportin' that **** at a metal show gets a quick punch in the face.

You won't hear any objection from me.

It really bums me out that Rob Darken is a National Socialist, cause his music is so damn good.

For me the ideologies, religions, and worldviews behind Black Metal are stupid and useless. I'm in it for that dark, evil, and mystical atmosphere combined with raw, often simplistic metal.

And don't think for a second that I've forgotten my love of Death Metal . I listen to and worship Morbid Angel's Alters of Madness daily. Morbid Angel's whole discography is kickass!
