I guess for some people, the music means more to them than the image. If people dig his music, who cares if he wears a bucket on his head? So despite whether the music's any good, you wouldn't like it [i]because[/] he wears a bucket?

That's what I think is cool about him. He is like fuckit I wear a KFC bucket and shred. He doesn't have this false I am so bad personna. I am kind of a wierd dude myself so I could of easily been spotted with a bucket on my head. A bucket on his head is pretty mellow these days. Heard a little bit of his stuff to know he can play but not enough to get what his style is like. I think he has some stuff with Primus or the bass player or something. If he ever comes around here I will hit it for sure.

He has good taste in guitars. Just seems like a normal dude really, at least I never hear about him making turnmoil everywhere he goes like another guy that played jackson V's. I guess I am just to that age where I can dig someones music but if they have a worldwide MO of treating everyone like dirt, I don't want to hear their tunes.

Re: Buckethead and Jackson

I think the bucket and everything is great. He's not just a guitar player... he's a character. Performing as a character allows him to do things that just wouldnt work otherwise.

Some of his stuff, like his whacky concept albums(Bucketheadland) are'nt the greatest, but if you dig through his stuff(and there's a LOT to check out) you'll find some great stuff. His album "Population Override" is IMO one of his best, much more musical than most of his others. Also, go to www.bucketheadland.com and download his song "Nottingham Lace", that's my all time favorite buckethead song.

Re: Buckethead and Jackson

I've seen him with Deli Creeps 3 times in the early 90s, and they recently reunited and played a show. He's a tremendously talented and original player. Great session guitarist playing everything from experimental weird stuff to jazz, accoustic, metal, electronic, you name it... I have quite a few of his solo albums, Praxis, Death Cube K, Ocatve of the Holy Innocents and some other stuff...

Rune The Axeman: Buckethead is highly regarded among session musicians and he's done more in his career than most professional guitarists... Maybe you can't take him seriously, but I can't take you seriously... I just found a discography for shits and giggles... put up your resume and compare:

you can't take me seriously? why, because I DON'T have a bucket on my head?

listen, my point is...when I look at pictures of that dude, he sure as hell doesn't give me an impression to be a professional musician. He doesn't exactly BEAM out to me: "HEY MAN, check out my music, it's great"
Just as I don't associate any "metal" looks with automatically being good musicians either. I never said I needed somebody to look "bad" and then it'd be a sign of great musicianship. Like "woah this guy must be good, look at the spikes he wears on his wrist dude, and the big chain around his neck" etc.

Actually when people over-do their image like that, I tend to believe that they do it to cover up lacks of other more vital things, like MUSICAL CONTENT and SKILLS
And I don't fuckin care if its clown outfits (insane clown posse), scary movie masks (slipknot), hilarious stage outfits (any 80's glam band), or KFC buckets.

I'm happy you like this guy's work, that's awesome man. But don't be going off on me just because I commented on his image.

And when I've played professionally for as long as mr.KFC over here, sure, I'll be back to put up my resume and compare any time.

- Rune.
